Best school for MSN IN NY THats affordable

I'm looking for a school that's affordable that provides MSN. Or do you know any hospital in NY That gives scholarship for masteral in any school ?

MSN in what focus? Are you looking for entry to practice MSN or ?

Jobs that offer tuition reimbursement are few and far between now because of the glut of nurses in practice. It will probably be really hard to find a job in NY to pay for a masters degree. Most tuition reimbursement now days is for ADNs who are required by their employer to obtain their BSN in order to retain their job.

If you are in the city it will be even harder to find tuition reimbursement because of the sheer number of unemployed nurses who are already qualified for the job. If anything, you might find a teaching hospital that offers DISCOUNTED tuition to their staff at the school affiliated with the hospital. The best way to find out who offers what is to call hospital HR depts and ask if they offer any tuition benefits.

New York Presbyterian Columbia gives you 12k a year for education. Highest reimbursement I've seen.

Affordable MSN programs...basically any public city or state school such as CUNY Hunter or Lehman and SUNY Downstate. Columbia , NYU, and Pace are Not affordable and 12k in tuition reimbursement will not even cover half of tuition. It may work out if u only go to school part time but most employers give less than 5k in tuition reimbursement.

If you get a job at an 1199 facility (union), they offer 100% tuition reimbursement for nursing related degrees -- except CRNA as they consider it not really nursing for some reason. Can't guarantee how up to date this info is as I haven't been in that union for a while (new state now). But worth a try!

Yes I heard about that too regarding 1199. Which hospital do you think is 1199 in NY? DOES dialysis pay more than ICU? Or it depends upon your experience?

The pay just depends on your experience and certifications. In a union hospital the pay is the same base for everyone no matter what unit. I've never done outpatient dialysis so can't comment on that.

I would check the 1199 SEIU website to see what facilities are with them. There have been a couple of mergers lately so I'm not sure what happened to the unions.
