Anybody familiar with Mount Sinai?

Is there anyone who can share some information regarding the work environment at Mount Sinai. How is the orientation process for new nurses, especially new graduates. I have heard from only one person so far that the hospital is not as great as they make it to be.

My experience was Sinai was that the NR was very nasty, and don't bother applying if you don't have a bsn, as she told me "we don't care to hire new graduate associate degree nurses". Good luck.

I didn't bother applying to Mount Sinai for that very reason. I don't think there is any real difference between nurses that have their associates degree, bachelors degree, or diploma when it comes to working at the bedside.

Good luck with your job search.

A coworker of mine got hired in their NICU and left after 3 months. From what I hear the environment is just unpleasant and management is awful.

I am a paramedic in nursing school but my partner just became an RN and was hired into the emergancy room with only an assoiciate degree. He is on a 6 month orientation (2 days in class one day on the floor) starting at 68k. The nursing recruiter is a bit of a hard a$$ but they are letting adn-RN's in. maybe it is becuase we were both employees of the hospital we find the atmosphere welcoming...dont let opinions foil your decision. what one person might not like, might be suitable for another.

I actually spoke to that same recruiter again, asking her why does the hosp say that adn and diploma nurses may apply? She continued to tell me that the chances of an associates degree nurse with no experience has a slim to no chance of being hired. I then told her that I do have experience as an LPN, I was told that my LPN experience did not matter, and to give her a call when I had some RN experience. I kindly told her thank you, but the likelyhood of me reapplying to her facility when I had experience would not happen., and to have a good day. After asking around about this NR in particular, she is well known to be a very nasty person. So there you have it, I don't plan on going back there. Management needs to reevaluate the ppl who are suppossed to be "recruiting" for them. Ppl like her make new grads like me reevaluate the thought of wanting to become a part of their organization.

THERE LOSS! What they dont understand is that when i get the experiance i dont need you any more (mt sinai) and it will always stick with me that you wouldnt hire me, 10 -15- 20 years down the line, they have lost a good oppurtunity.....

if it was me ,now that you know thats a place you would not want to be i would hound the nurse recruiter out of spite, but that would be unproffesional now wouldnt ??:dncgbby:

Lol, lmao. I don't understand why the NR's haven't realized that yet. You never forget the nasty, unneccessary treatment you received as a new grad.

EXACTLY....New Grad Nurses soon become experienced RN's and then the tables are turned w/Nurse Recruiters trying to recruit individuals they treated shabbily just several years earlier....seems kind of short-sighted....

Hi,

Im an RN with a BSN. Im currently job hunting for my first nursing job. I applied to Mount Sinai (which is my first option) almost one month ago and Ive heard nothing back. Can you please tell me how did you applied and how much you waited to be called back? How qualified were you for the position? Thank you so much.

Also, any direct phone numbers of nurse recruiters will be appreciated. Thank you.
