New Grad moving to Albuquerque in December

U.S.A. New Mexico

Published

I will be a new grad moving to Albuquerque this December. Is there anyone out there that can give me any advise on what to expect? I am originally from ABQ and have family there so I really just need advice about nursing. Where should I apply to work? Can I work on a permit or do I have to wait until I get my license? Are any hospitals offering sign-on bonuses? I am coming from NY and have talked to the BON about how to get licensed, but I would like some personal insite.

Thanks,

Molly:p

Hello, my name is janice and I plan to move to NM this summer on a travel assignment and anxious to get out of georgia, its been a total mess here, the people are plaque'd with demons from hell, I'm a 57yr old female with two grandboys and we all have been mistreated, I feel that NM is God's country and very much want to com asap. I would love to hear from you. Please post your comments here.

I'm a newly grad from the Philippines.. I've heard that NM is not requiring a local board license.. I want to take NCLEX in NM but I already requested for the fingerprint card a month ago.. until now, no reply from them.... what should I do?

Thank you and God bless!!!

newbie here and i need inputs re: LOVELACE/ARDENT. we are seriously considering relocating to NM .Very tough decision for us since hubby also got offers that look very promising.Your input highly matters so please help!

I would not recommend the facility. I have heard they are trying to close the facility but the community so badly needs it, that they are made to stay open.

This is from a friend in the area. I hope someone chimes in who has first hand info. What is his specialty? There is a fantastic cardiac hospital in Albuquerque that might work better.

nightngale1998.. is the above post for me?

his field is int. med./hospitalist. BTW, what is the name of the cardiac hospital that you were talking about? currently, i am with an outpatient cardiac cardiac cath lab and want to also explore my options.

thanks again!

Yes.

The New Mexico Heart Hospital is great. I just went to a Cardiac Conference they put out for Health Professionals. I have worked there, as an Agency Nurse, many moons ago. I view them as professional, a leader in the cardiac field, and great staff. Presbyterian also has quite an advanced cardiac unit.

I loved working at University Hospital; I am sure you two can choose from many excellent options in the area. I graduated from their University and from TVI's two year program also many moon agao. I love the area, food, and triculture atmosphere. Enjoy...

My stepdaughter works for them in a non-medical, support capacity. I know they have been losing doctors, which in my opinion is a red flag. My SD is trying to find another job because morale is terrible. Initially, Ardent was going to close Lovelace's main facility, but now they appear to be keeping it open. They seem to be in total disarray. NOT recommended at this time!

semisweetchick and nightngale 1998...

THANKS A LOT for your inputs!! It will surely help us in deciding where to go. We are currently checking Presbyterian. We will see how it goes.
