New member here. Just got my acceptance letter in the mail today (Newark campus). Thought I'd start a thread to get the conversation flowing. Anybody else waiting?

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying to the Rutgers (formerly UMDNJ nursing program) ABSN program. I applying to the Stratford campus. Can anyone (who has been accepted into the program give me an idea an overview of your credentials ( What was ur GPA? What was did you get ur 1st bachelors degree? and anything else) I really would like some kind of feedback to assist me.

Hi Iris,

I was accepted for Newark for the Spring 2014 cohort. My overall gpa was a 3.35, I graduated with a BS in Allied Health and a minor in Biology. I got a B or better in all my pre-reqs. I'm also nys emt certified, which I believe enhanced my application. Make sure all your pre-reqs are completed before you apply, and submit at least a week before the deadline thru nursingCAS because after you press submit, it has to be verified before being sent to the school. Are you participating in the NALC program? If so, it is the day after orientation, Dec 3 during NALC

Hello Iris,

I was accepted into the Stratford campus and my first degree was in Law & Justice Studies. My GPA was 3.56 and I got A's in my prereqs although I did get a B in A& P II :mad:. I am also Six Sigma Green, Lean & Black Belt certified (although I'm not sure if that actually helped me or not) and CPR certifed. I think that as long as you are in the 3.0 range, you have as good of a chance as anyone else, although the higher your GPA, I'm sure the better. Stratford's prereqs are different from Newark's now, we were kept as having less than them, although I'm sure this will change in the future. I hope this helps a bit. :geek: Best of luck!
