Ive passed my boards, graduated in may from a well known school in NJ. Got a 3.5 gpa. with 3 years of big pharma experience. IS it just me or is it really this impossible to find a job? How are people with 0 years of work exp who graduated getting jobs and someone who has some work exp and a decent gpa from a good school not getting any luck?

I am at the point of giving up and actually gonna start looking on the west coast or even in georgia or s carolinia. Im loosing hope here :uhoh3: any advice helpful hints this is making me sad and depressed

thanks!

I've been licensed as an RN in NJ since August 2010 and haven't found work yet. I am in a BSN program, maybe that will help. I'm trying not to give up. I'll take anything as I am still working in housekeeping at a hospital that I've worked for 5 years. I'm BCLS,ACLS.PALS.and basic dysrhythmia certified.Any suggestions?

wow kvalentine, i'm surprised! you have so much going for you! have you looked into LTC or clinics?

Yes,and I keep applying with no luck. It is making me work harder to get my BSN quickly though.

hello again. for those of you who have graduated last year, are you guys doing CE? how does that whole thing go?

How hard can it be? I just took my NCLEX yesterday and I already have calls from an agency and one from LTC, to return.

wow. what agency and which LTC? do you have prior healthcare experience? my background consist of being a car mechanic for 10 yrs and just school clinicals-- i am totally a new nurse on this. but to tell you the truth, im very optimistic too. i havent gotten any call backs yet but then again ive only applied to hospitals. i got some leadership experience and am finally getting all those certifications everyone else is recommending to get so hopefully someone will see something good. ive only started job hunting too so i guess, ill see in a couple of months? o, it might be location too. i mentioned on here earlier that bergen county was hiring new grads but thats 2 hrs away from me. ill get desperate when that time comes. congratz on passing and on finding a job!

My theory is that it will be incredibly hard to get into a hospital if I have no experience. So with that said... I am applying LTC and such to get some "experience" because some experience as an RN is better than none. I am in Burlington County. I am a new grad, no experience yet!

I got hired today for subacute. I've worked LTC/subacute as an LPN and CNA for 10 years and I still couldn't get a hospital job right away.

Subacute, now that sounds interesting to me. Whats that like?

Busy! Most people are pretty stable but sometimes we get some really sick pts. I like it though. Good experience!

Ive had 2 interviews and nothing yet :( so a month later still nothing. One day i counted how many spots i applied too the total was about 40 something "open positions at various hospitals in NJ NYC area. I took a week off because it started making me upset and sad....out of my graduating class only about 5 people have landed jobs so far...

i agree with fellow posters NJ NYC area sucks! its over populated here, and everyone is graduating with the same thing!

my friend who is a nurse manager straight out said It costs hospitals way to much $$ to train where they can hire someone who has 1-3 years of hospital experience :(

so sad!

anyone know if any places that hire new grads with an associates degree? i know it's going to be impossible for me to find a job which is why i am going to apply for an RN to BSN online course this week. But it would also be nice to work and get some experience instead of sitting around and putting all this skills and knowledge to waste :(

It's been over two years since I've been a registered nurse. I am still working as a housekeeper in the hospital that I've been employed in for over six years. I have a BSN now and am licensed in Pa and NJ.I'm certified in BLS,ACLS.PALS.and basic dysrhythmia. What else can I do to get a nursing job. Most jobs are asking for 2-3 years acute care nursing experience, but no one will give me a chance. I guess I'll go for my Master's degree since my employer provides tuition reimbursement. It's just that I'm worried that I'll have Master's degree in Nursing and still no job.
