I really have no idea.. which nursing school is the best/better in NJ?

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hello all,

this is my first time experiencing with this forum.... :D

I have been trying to find a good nursing school for months in NJ,

(direct entry to nursing school from high school -BSN program)

and I truly have no idea which one to pick, or what kind of characteristics I need to look at in order to

choose the best/better nursing schools.

so far, I have these schools on my list:

Bloomfield college

Rutgers Camden

Fairleigh Dickinson University

I picked them based on the NCLEX-RN passing rate on here:

NCLEX Exam | NCLEX-RN Exam Results New Jersey

(I dont know if this source is vaild..)

I want to hear from RNs- which nursing school guarantees me a lot of clinical experience and passing NCLEX-RN in my first try?

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

I can not speak about these colleges.

Another thing to bass your decision on: What are the retention rates for college? and program drop out rates.

Both of these are greater indicator of programs ability to support you to complete nursing program. Also ask what assistance is provided to students specifically for the nursing program. These items are more important than just basing decision on NCLEX pass rates.

I see... but do you think the retention rate on the Collegeboard (individual schools don't provide their rates :( not even -some of them- the NCLEX passing rate..) is trustable?

I wanna know the rate from nursing major only from schools, but obviously I cant find it anywhere.. :(

Specializes in Emergency.

Take a look at Caldwell College. They have a new bsn program. But instead of building a nursing program from the ground up, they absorbed the Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing. MHSN has had a diploma program since 1894. Superb program with a LOT of clinical time.

Caldwell will provide the non-nursing specific classes including science pre-reqs. MHSN, which will be known as the Mountainside School of Nursing at Caldwell College, will provide all o the nursing instruction. It's supposed to be a turn-key start, using the existing physical plant and the current instructors.

Check it out.

with respect to Nursing, I would consider the passing rate on the NCLEX and those able to find employment after graduating.

the state or some agency puts out an annual percentage, but the link seems to not work now. not sure if it is because it is being updated or if this is no longer tracked.

Not sure about a retention rate...i am at Bergen Community and we lose a couple of students a semester for grades, which I don't believe retention rate considers. IMO Nursing is a whole different animal.

I have a 4yr Biz degree to compare and contrast.

Rutgers is the BEST Nursing school for BSN in NJ... its also 99% harder to get into based on sheer GPA requirement! (unofficially: 3.8+)

I attend bloomfield and I love it...

Someone mentioned before that when they applied to a hospital they were informed that the hospital was only accepting Rutgers graduates. That just goes to show how good their program is that is why Rutgers was at the top of my list. Good luck on your decision.
