i am in the same boat. i would like to try hospital as i am a new rn and been in the same facility as an lpn and now rn for the past 3 years. i want change but hospitals here in central nj won't hire you as a new grad. sigh...

heyy guys i'm moving to north jersey from texas in the next 6 months and I was wondering if the hospitals are hiring at this time , been a lpn on medsurg floor for 2 1/2/ years and in october i've been in critical care stepdown unit for a year this coming october as a RN , do I have a good chance of getting hired up there by any of the hospitals ???? any bit of information would help this TEXAN :))))))

I'm currently a ICU tech working in a MAGNET hospital... in school for ADN....when applying for hospitals dont even bother applying to hospitals with MAGNET status. They will only hire BSN's. As far as new grad BSN's I'm not sure but if you have hospital experience as an LPN or whatever, some places take that into account....

I've already been told that the hospital I've worked for nearly 4 years now won't hire me once I finish school because I'll only have a ADN........ bunch of jerks.... :-\

awww my goddd , that suxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wow thanks for the infooo :))

Mama,

I'm curious to know - why did you choose to get an ADN? I'm also getting my ADN, but I didn't know that this would be a disadvantage. Are there hospitals that aren't MAGNET status that accepts ADN prepared nurses in North NJ? I assume you will probably forge ahead to get a BSN (as I have).

Yes getting BSN is a must.... and I'm sure there are hospitals that will hire ADN's... I believe UMDNJ does because as far as I know they are not magnet.....

I chose to do the ADN track first because of my own finical/living situation.... get my RN first so I can get a better paying job so I can continue to put myself threw school for my BSN..... instead of suffering all 4 years for my BSN I'll suffer for 2 for my ADN...once I get my RN, putting myself threw school wont be as hard as it is as a tech lol....

most of 2 year nursing schools have a bridge program to a 4 year university to make the transition smooth... I'm going to Christ hospital school of nurses which has a bridge program with NJCU...so once I finish christ, I can finish up my BSN at NJCU....

good luck :-)
