Will I get my temp license in time?

U.S.A. New Hampshire

i graduate saturday, 5/10, and have accepted a job at a hospital starting monday, 5/19.

i am suddenly worried that i will not have my temp license in time to start (just found out that i cannot even start orientation without it). :omy:

i have already applied for license by examination (temp & regular), sent the requests for my transcripts to be sent to the bon, and registered with the testing facility that administers the nclex-rn.

did anyone start a job right after graduation and have any insight into whether this timeframe is realistic?

the next scheduled orientation is another month away and i do not want to have to wait another month!:plsebeg:

thanks!

You CAN practice as a GN in NH.

You just have to be under supervison of a RN.

The GN allows you to begin your training program, which legally you can not start in NH until you have your GN or RN.

There is no GRN, it is just GN. For LPNs there is a GPN also. It is still in effect.

Inthehomestretch is right- the GN or GPN is good for 120 days unless you fail boards, then it is withdrawn immediately. If you do fail boards, then you have to wait 45 days to retake a second time.

However, in MA they do not have this option anymore.

You do not get a license till you test..................they used to have something called a grn graduate nurse but that doesn't exist amymore.

It depends on the facility. I had a position to start upon graduation as a GN...I had 3 months to obtain my RN...and a raise.

Does anyone know the specifics about LPN licenses and transferring them to Massachusetts. My dilemna is that I can sit for the New Hampshire LPN boards, because I have the time. I do not have enough time to sit for Mass. How long before I can transfer my license to mass, if possible? Do I need to work for some time or can I pass the boards and then transfer to Mass.

Thank you. :specs: :nurse:

hi all! wanted to follow up on my original post. i graduated on saturday and my temporary license was online by tuesday! i am pretty impressed with the bon on that one! so the end of the story is, i had my temporary license in plenty of time to begin orientation! yeah! :yeah:

now to get rid of the "temp" part

Congrats! I still don't have my temp license and was supposed to start a job on Monday....

Evidently the school sent out transcripts before they showed a degree issued and since then have had to move offices and pcs since the school is undergoing major construction.

On a good note, I got my ATT!!

Good luck on the NCLEX and hope you love the new job!
