Well I took the NCLEX-RN today and the computer shut off at 81 questions. I immediately tried the PVT and got the good pop up! I had 26 SATAs, 2 drag and drop, 2 exhibits, and 8 medications. The SATAs were very straight forward and easier than the practice questions I previously encountered. My test had a little bit of everything like psych, peds, maternity, medsurg, neuro, infection control, priority, and delegation.
I found the test to come right out of my Hurst review packet. I had a lot of questions whereas I had to understand why a nurse would do a particular intervention for certain situations/complications. However, it was not as difficult as I expected. I remember thinking, "Why are the questions not getting harder?".
I used Hurst and Kaplan to prepare for the test for about a month prior. In my opinion the Kaplan Q Trainers 5-7 were ALOT HARDER than the NCLEX. However, the Hurst tests were comparable to the NCLEX. My scores are as follows:
Kaplan Q Trainers
4-58%
5-63%
6-63%
7-61%
Hurst Tests
1-91/125
2-85/125
3-85/125
4-89/125
5-85/127
6-didn't take
As you can see my scores were not the greatest but I still got the good pop up and according to everyone on the site that's a fantastic sign I passed :) Here's to hoping the PVT is accurate. I will keep you posted when I receive my unofficial results.
Thanks to everyone that encouraged me on the site and the prayers that were sent up. I personally stalked this site everyday for hours reading about people experience with the NCLEX. It helped me to be familiar on the areas to study and introduced me to the Hurst review. God is good and I know he blessed my efforts today. I hope my post helps to ease the readers' anxiety the way others eased mine. Good luck to all of the future test takers :)
