  1. We just finished training on kinnser and I have to say it's user friendly. Will have to see how it goes along the way but so far cuts down lots of time doing oasis of nd nurse notes.
  2. Metairie Louisiana SOC $56/$66 weekend ROC/Recert $54/64 weekend Reg SNV $36/$46 weekend IV therapy $42/$52 weekend D/C $39 $18/hr meetings/in service On call weekend Friday 5p- Monday 8a $150
  3. We also had no techs or cnas on any shift on on the telemetry unit I worked for. However it was 7-8 patients between an rn and lpn team. Still was hard to manage a safe shift but can be done. However I did resign from that job as I didn't feel it was the best and safe care for patients nor my license. Beat of luck.
  4. I have worked both as an lpn and now an rn in home health. The roles are different. The oasis packet is for the rns to fill out on admits, recerts, post hospital. You will not have to do this as an lpn. You will follow the orders on the 485s for each patient and conduct weekly visits per ordered frequency. You will do vitals on every patient and some skills can include wound care, lab draws, Foley insert/care, and such. You will make sure pts are compliant with meds and tx. You can reiterate pt teaching. You will document you findings on nurses notes via paper or tablet. It is usually one page front back on paper not sure on electronic. Hope this helps as for as the lpn role. Oh and the rn will come out to do the recert at the end of each episode which Is 60 days. The rns roles are different and much more documentation. Best of luck.
  5. I work for two companies as a field rn and get paid per visit. Below is the pay rates between the two. Hope it helps and best of luck. Skilled nurse visit $36/45 Admits $56/60 Recerts and post hospital $54/60 Weekends add $10 to any visit. On call $150/280 I average 20 plus snv and 2-3 soc, roc per week and average pay is like $2500 or more biweekly
  6. So its my first weekend on call although I've been in home health for 3 years, I was an lpn and now an RN. I work prn with two companies and am on call this weekend. Just curious to which kind of calls do you other nurses receive? How busy have you gotten? So far so good, only one admit, snv, and a question from the physical therapist about a drug. Also what is your pay rate for being on call? I believe ours is $150 for the weekend, Friday 5pm til Monday 8am. Thanks for the inputs!
  7. I used an older Hurst book with lectures, Kaplan 2013/2014, and Saunders cd. I liked Hurst for a great review of content and it does stick in your head. I liked Saunders cd with over 4000 questions better than my Kaplan book which had about 7-8 chapter reviews with like 30 questions and a 265 ques practice test in the back. It also has a cd with an additional 100 or so ques test. For me I liked how Saunders is downloaded on my laptop and I can do questions with the answer and rationale pop right up after you select. I personally didnt think any books are as close to the NCLEX questions however its the repetitive doing of questions that help you learn and retain the info. I would focus on one area at a time and open my Hurst book to that section while doing questions on Saunders cd with noting anything I felt I should know in my Hurst book that was left out.
  8. I took the NCLEX RN september 5th, had 265 questions and was on hold. My results were of hold because my fingerprints not scanned properly. I had to wait thurs till tues to find out I was sent to the CC page. Huge bummer but I also could not complain because I did prepare the way I should have and tested too quick because I couldnt wait to pass. I waited 45 days and $300 later, I PASSED today 10/23/13. I am now officially an RN. I pray you will have a pass once the hold if lifted and not have to endure the stress I caused myself. I have read of a few recent nurses on here that were on hold and did PASS. So stay positive!!
  9. Congrats on your well deserved accomplishment. You made out strong!!!!
  10. No I did not pass. I posted in another thread so sorry for not updating here as well. I did not prepare well and had near passing standard in all areas acording to the BON letter but not above to pass. I am using Kaplan and Hurst that a friend loaned to me. I will pass this time by preparing the way I should have done the first time. Good luck ladies I am planning to test October 21st.
  11. Best of luck sweetie and try to stay positive. My results were on hold too. Took the exam on a Thursday, had 265 questions and got the unofficial results that Tuesday that I did fail. My results were on hold because my fingerprints could but be verified. I received my letter from bon and scored near passing standard in all areas. I had a feeling I did not pass because I did not know a good amount of questions and did not prepare well enough. I can reteat October 21st. Now keep in mind this was my situation and others have passed with 265 questions and results on hold. So it can go either way and is stressful. I will pray you passed and stay positive. I wish you the best.
  12. Congrats!! Awesome job
  13. Best of luck and will pray.
