What I did and fail & my new plan

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

ok, ive been stalking this forum for quite a while. so here's my story

FIRST TIME

I took HURST online because of good reviews here. it was a good content review. then I had a "live" review which was EXCELL it was also very good! but more on content. basically i just studied content and did only 500q's or less for 2 mos. I used SAUNDERS and answered some questions at the end of every chapter. then for the other questions I did EXAM CRAM&NCLEX3000. the first 2 months, i studied for maybe 4 hours a day. then for the last remaining 2 weeks probably 10hours. i didnt practice answering question.which was so wrong. did the PVT trick and fail.

2ND TIME

im doing KAPLAN complete course. im still studying my old materials. the only difference is im answering questions100+ a day. i did the qbank and my scores are pretty low. but it doesnt matter coz im reading my rationales over and over. and another thing.. LACHARITY!!!!! this is such a great book. i had a lot of prioritization during my first test! if i had this book the first time i was taking it..i probably wouldve passed. and im also memorizing my spider... yea!:yeah: got that here.

i already spent a lot. and i just wanna move on. i need any help or advices. im taking it in 2 weeks. and im really desperate.:crying2:

oh yea, to all re-takers..we can change our study plans. but always remember to pray!:)

Kaplan Online is the best thing out there. Take Q trainers 1-7 a week before your exam; Practice Qs only from Qbank every day; do not mix sources!! When I took the NCLEX I felt like I was just answering Kaplans Q trainers - seriously! Watch ALL Kaplan LOD videos to internalize the decision tree and you will pass 100%

Wishing you good luck.

Good luck to you! Are you understanding the rationales? If not, do you consult your other sources to find out why the answer is? I loved Kaplan! I wasn't scoring 90's, 60's in fact. I used Saunders for content and when that was covered, I did questions and felt like I had the info, I just had to apply it. I agree about LaCharity! That was an excellent book. I had tons of priority questions....probably was 90% of my test.

thanks..im just really scared to fail again :(

@sonoritygenious im done with qt1-6 il take my qt7 tomorrow! im really discouraged coz i read some comments that some people still fail even if they score 60's on kaplan.:( what else should i do? i get so bored with the video though

@caliotter thanks :)

@proudmom most of it yea. my scores in qbank are low. i hate it. im so nervous right now.......

i used kaplan soley and it really helped me in terms of breaking down the questions. the content i got from my text (labs-drugs) and hesi review book that we did right before graduation. i think learning to answer based on kaplan is very helpful in breaking that "which answer is most right?" situation. althought after all that i ended up with 16 sata and took 75 questions in 55 minutes. i knew i must have been doing ok when my only math was a mcg/kg/min question. :eek: i will tell you that i feel the nclex is the most general and broad test that i have ever taken. i wish you well!!!!

just got the lacharity book and I love it. I agree with you if I had it I prob would have passed.

thanks to all but i am really feeling down lately..im so desperate to pass :(
