Took nclex-rn today

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone,

I am so happy to finally make a post about passing nclex. i am a very silent member on allnurses, i read the posts on here everyday but i never reply. i must confess though that everyone on here has been a blessing to me one way or the other. I used this site when i was studying for my nclex-pn and now nclex-rn, so i have been here for sometime. Reading the posts of those that passed encouraged me and motivated me to study more.

i took the nclex-rn today for the second time and i am pleased to say i have finally passed (i did the pvt and i got the good pop-up). After i found out i failed the first time, i was sad but somehow i put myself together and decided i was not going to get depressed over the failure. i started studying all over again and scheduled my exam. the resources i used are;

hurst review - just the videos (someone gave me these)

kaplan review - i actually went to class for this one

the famous nclex study guide on here (not endorsed)

i listened to the hurst videos twice to be very familiar with the content and used kaplan mainly for questions. i didnt finish the qbank questions because i was lazy...lol but i did 50% of it and my avg score was 58% with scores ranging from 45-66%. i did all the qtrainers except 3&7.

diagnostic - 54%

QT1 - 49%

QT2- 47%

QT4- 55%

QT5- 52%

QT6- 58%

readiness - 61%

i am very grateful to God for doing this for me because without him i would have given up. I know he can do it for you just as he did it for me. i will be happy to answer any questions and share my resources.

Congratulations RN! ;)

Congratulations :)

Congratulations!! i'm going to take my NCLEX too but I'm still waiting for my CES requirements from the Philippines. Right now I'm doing a self review. I'm going to take my exam here in Texas. If you can give me some tips on what to read and what online review course i should take. I heard Kaplan is a great one! it will be highly appreciated.

(pardon my english, it's not my native language) congrats again!!

Thanks y'all. i am so happy to finally add RN to my name.

In my opinion, hurst is a comprehensive content review while kaplan teaches about strategies. saunders is also a good book for content review, i used it for my nclex-pn and i passed with the minimum number of questions. i did not read the book though, i just did questions from the cd and read every rationale.one thing about saunders though is that the questions are not representative of nclex questions, the questions are way too easy. Kaplan questions are very similar to nclex questions. i hope this helps.

I took it today, too. What a random weird test. I got the "good pop up", but I am not sure how? I don't even know what to tell people to study for it. I mean...I was certain I failed. I don't even get it. How does that test I took show my competence as a nurse AT ALL???

Ugh, disappointing as all get out. I am so confused. And weirded out at the same time.

All I can say is...in all honesty..I am not sure studying helped me at all. I coulda had a V8.

Thanks cuteypie!! Congratulations again!! :)

Congratulations! so basically you just used kaplan and hurst? How many questions do you answer each day and for how long did you study? and why don't you recommend the NCLEX study guide here?
