Took NCLEX CA 8/28; BON update and says RN cancelled and have permit

I took NCLEX yesterday (I'm in California) and have an interim RN permit. I just checked the California BRN website, it looks like there is a start of an update regarding my NCLEX/RN status. My name appears twice on the BON website, a new line item stating Registered Nurse and another older one listing the Interim Permit. When I click on the new line item for RN and the "?" to obtain more information; it says this temporary RN or interim permit is cancelled and there is no license number listed.. There isn't any other information listed dates, etc. If I failed NCLEX would this RN license information be there (eventhough it's not complete)? Has this happened to others? Do you think they are still updating my status/license or ?

Thanks so much for any input from those with permits, getting their actual license and/or in California.

I'm not in CA and don't have a definitive answer for you, but maybe I can still help.

I remember this topic arising on the forum in the past; in a nutshell someone who holds a permit has been granted the permit because their application was approved, BUT has not taken NCLEX yet.

The permit becomes null and void once the NCLEX is taken. Either the permit is replaced with a license number because the applicant passed, OR if the applicant did NOT pass NCLEX, the permit is simply voided and no license is issued.

At this point, so soon after taking the test, I don't know which it is! I'm sure someone in CA, more familiar with the turnover rate of BON website, etc, will be of more help to you.

It's possible that there's no license number issued yet because it's simply registering that you have taken the test....but no results yet. OR it's possible no license will be issued....I'm sorry, that's the best I can do.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much RNsRWe! I did hear from a few allnurses members and they said it was promising my status (and license) was being updated. Sure enough, this morning it's official I'm an RN, BSN! :)

I have classmates who have taken the nclex in CA over the last 2 weeks and it took them 4-5 days to get a result. I can't speak to the interim permit because CA isn't giving them to everyone (no idea why). I took mine Tuesday along with 2 other classmates and none of us are on breeze yet. Friday is a horrendous day to try and call the board but you could if you want.

Yay You! Congrats, and welcome to the fold!

Thank you so much. I literally studied for two months (ten hour days) for NCLEX, and so glad to have the test behind me! Glad to be official.

Your update is kinda freaking me out. The only thing easing my mind is the other people i took my test with don't have their names up either. I can't believe we all failed.

in any case congrats! Very jealous!

hi yedwards42,

I took the NCLEX RN on 11/17 and I have the same thing as you did appearing on the breeze website. I had 2 showing my name where my interim permit was current and I had another with my name listed with RN and status of cancelled with no license number. I saw this in the evening of 11/18 and today 11/19 it is still the same. I called the BRN this morning and all they told me was that it may take as long as a month to get a result. I have been freaking out all day and just concerned why they would put my name with the interim permit active and the RN cancelled. Did I fail? How did you deal with the situation and have you heard of similar stories? I have been searching all over the threads and nothing has shown regarding this topic. And yes, I did end up doing the PVT and I have been getting the good pop up as well. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
