I am preparing to take the NCLEX, but am unsure of which state i want to practice in. If i take the test in one state, will I be able to transfer easily to another state? Can I graduate from a school in one state, and then take the NCLEX and be licensed for a completely separate state? I am in Idaho, and am contemplating working in Utah. I know there are a few questions here, but anyone with any experience would be helpful! Thanks.

It's a national exam, therefor it's the same in all states. If you have questions about how your license will transfer from state to state, it may be wise to ask your state board of nursing and the board of nursing in the state you plan to work in.

You can obtain your initial nursing licensure in Idaho and apply for a license by endorsement in Utah. You can also bypass Idaho altogether and apply directly to the Utah Board of Nursing for initial nursing licensure in Utah.

I took my nclex in Georgia by it was for Minnesota! Where you physically sit to take the exam has no bearing on where you decide to be licensed

As Missnurse01 said, where you physically take your NCLEX has no bearing on where you are licensed. You can take your NCLEX in Alaska and be licensed in Maine. Where you apply for a license dictates what State you are originally licensed in. How easily you can transfer your license from the State you are originally licensed in to another State depends on the 'new' States stipulations for license transfers. Some require additional CE or an online class in something. Check with the States you are interested in and you should be able to find all the requirements to transfer your license from where you get licensed to where you want to go.

I have a friend who went to LPN school with me. We went to school in CT, he tested in NY (because that testing facility had dates open so he was able to test sooner) and he sent his license application to the AZ BON because that's where he and his fiance' were going to move.
