Starting first year (LPN)

Nursing Students NCLEX

Should I already have a review book for the nclex-pn? A couple girls going into the class with me are already studying and we haven't started class yet! Now I feel nervous.

I would concentrate more on learning for the PN than worrying about study for the NCLEX. Some NCLEX books can make good review material

If you don't mind me asking, when is a good time to start studying for the PN exam? Or are you suggesting that the course and clinicals themselves should be good enough preperation and a book is just a good reference?

first off, welcome to allnurses!!

i am just finishing the pn program. once you get started, you'll be worried about the material for the test for the classes that you are in. granted, when you are narrowing down to the last few months of school, the nclex starts floating back into your mind. personally i bought one saunders review book a little after medsurg started to help with reviewing the material. and i brought a kaplan a month ago, i only have 3 weeks left of school and pinning. throughout the program i would flip through the book and answer a few questions but rather then that, i havent started studying hard for it just because of all the other exams we have. you have to get through the program's exams to take the nclex. good luck with school. starting is the most exciting part.

thanks! :D

i'll keep that in mind. it seems people here really prefer the saunders books.

By the time you finish your training you will know your stuff, practice questions and understanding the rationale is something to concentrate on once finished training. As mentioned review books can help during the course but wouldn't worry to much about questions until you are ready to properly study for the exam
