Pearson Vue Trick did NOT work for me and I PASSED!

Nursing Students NCLEX Nursing Q/A

I just wanted to make a post in hopes that this will come up for potential nurses googling about the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT)

I took my NCLEX in January of 2017, and decided to try the PVT so many people swear by. I did NOT get the good pop up, cried cause well obviously it didn't work so figured I had failed. Nope! I passed.

The Pearson Vue Trick does NOT always work. Don't let it trick you!

This is was my second time taking the NCLEX, I failed the first one. It happens! I just picked myself up and studied some more. Passed it the second time with minimum questions. There is so much online help out there! So good luck to everyone!

so did you end up passing?

No. I did not. Have to retake

I will keep you in my prayers too

The bad pop up message is a receipt for $200 for a new registration. Using a card that is expired or has a wrong expiration date can result in a message telling you that your card is declined (because of course it is invalid). It doesn't always mean that you have failed. Card Declined most of the time does mean a fail but maybe you will be lucky!

No it means failed.

I put in correct and incorrect card information. They both said the same thing. "Our order indicates that you....."

Again, no, it does not.

I say this because there have been times when people have put in invalid card information (expiration date or security code wrong, whatever) and the Card Declined message naturally came through...because PV attempted to charge a bad card....but then it turned out they PASSED. There are those posts here on this NCLEX forum.

Why? Because what people are doing is attempting a duplicate registration with Pearson Vue (something against their Terms of Service) and on occasion the registration software will attempt to validate the card information it is being provided. As it should do when people give a credit card to pay for something. And on occasion that card validation attempt, once found to BE valid, has also CHARGED the person requesting registration. So there they sit with a receipt for $200 for a new registration AND will have passed. I have read those accounts on this site. Not often, but often enough to make me wonder why anyone would be foolish enough to risk losing $200 on this game! Lots of people say there's no risk of you don't provide the valid information but then that's also pretty stupid, since all you get is the chance that you get the good pop up because the card charge attempt wasn't made. If it was....and you passed....you get a Card Declined message even IF you passed.

Which is why this is a really stupid waste of time lol and people shouldn't bother to do it at all IMHO.

Summary--most of the time a card won't be tested by PV as valid if no registration should be made because the person has passed the exam. Sometimes, it is tested (regardless of test status) and if found to be invalid (wrong expiration date, etc) a Card Declined message is sent. Which means you don't know if the message is because you failed and have to pay or because your card info was bad and don't need to pay, although MOST of the time it's because of a fail--- though definitely not conclusive. Just ask those who thought they failed because of the Card Declined message---or because of the payment of $200---and they passed.

Should have also mentioned that in your case, PV did not attempt to charge your card in the first place so of course you got the same message either way. MOST of the time, the software will refuse to accept a new registration for a test that has just been passed. But nothing is perfect and sometimes a card charge IS made (or attempted to be made if you provide bad info) and if that happens the person submitting is SOL because they've violated the TOS anyway and agreed to not get a refund. Silly isn't it?

We can't be right about everything, everytime. Please just let this go. Have a good day.
