NY: Passed NCLEX; How Long for Listing on BON website? Receipt of paper license?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Just curious if anyone knows...Took it Sat. a.m. and paid the Quick Results fee this a.m. to find out I passed...(feel bad for people in the NON-Quick results states--that's cruel)...Now, about how long 'til I"m actually licensed and listed on the NYS BON web site? Do I tell employers at the job fair tomorrow "I passed NCLEX 72 hours ago and am awaiting formal licensure?" The BON has had my application since June so I assume they already verified that I have no criminal record, etc.....Thanks for any tips.

Well I called today, and as it turns out... Pearson did not send my passiing results to New York BON. Unbelievable, if I had not called would they have ever figured it out? how careless can they be? They said I should see my name in 3 days. So you may want to give them a call.

Nyforlove, Im curious did you take your test in Lower Manhattan? thats where I took mine.

Oh my god!!! But, you HAD received the letter from BON (w/your pic) stating that you passed and yet still there was a problem...that's nuts....Yes, I also took it at the Wall Street location...I'm going to call now. Thanks so much for letting me know!

hi everyone,

[color=#483d8b]

[color=#483d8b]clueless here, i applied for licensure in ny passed the nclex on sept 23. i am wondering if i would be automatically licensed without completing the child abuse and infection control yet, are those needed asap in order to have a license number? will it mean no license number if those were not done? im planning to do the child abuse and infection control next week though next week though.

[color=#483d8b]thanks!!!

if you took your nursing classes in the us, the child abuse and infection control curricula would have been included in the coursework, no need to take anything additional. however, if you did not do the schooling in the us, or it's been a long time, you'd need to show proof of having completed that coursework. as far as i knew, that was all done on the application to take the nlclex, and an att wouldn't be issued to sit for the exam without everything done. perhaps not, i'm not 100% certain. all i can say for sure is that if you do need to take those courses, you won't get a license without it. you can have passed the nclex, but you'd still have to satisfy the application. still, it seems weird to me that you'd be allowed to sit for test without having satisfied that application...?

i guess that question really should go to the bon....i'd hate to see you all set to get a license and your application is really on a pile somewhere waiting for you to submit something! make the call :)

Congratulations are in order for some of you, I see!! :balloons:

Yeah Im gonna call the Wall Street location and give them a piece of my mind. I suggest you do the same. their number is Pearson 212-232-0324. By the way my name is now listed.

My name is listed too now--thanks to YOU; allnurses.com is the best! I'm not sure whose fault it is--after all, we did get the "pass" notification from the BON w/our picture on it--so Pearson evidently sent something to the BON---when I called the BON, they asked for my Social Security #, checked their records, and replied that I would be listed that night...It may have something to do with the BON not dotting their "i's" and crossing their "t's"...Now we can start working :) Thanks again.

The silver lining to this delay in our license issuance: Because our license was issued in Oct. (i.e. post-Sept. 30), our license expires one month later: Sept. 09 instead of Aug. '09...Yippee--a free extra month!

That's such great news. Now be on the lookout for the actual, tangible license in the mail. My friend received her card in the mail within 3 days of it being posted online. If we dont get it in any time soon, we'll have to call them up again.

Thanks for the heads-up! I've printed out the "screen" of my license on the NYS web site as my "best evidence" for jobs.
