NY: Passed NCLEX; How Long for Listing on BON website? Receipt of paper license?

Just curious if anyone knows...Took it Sat. a.m. and paid the Quick Results fee this a.m. to find out I passed...(feel bad for people in the NON-Quick results states--that's cruel)...Now, about how long 'til I"m actually licensed and listed on the NYS BON web site? Do I tell employers at the job fair tomorrow "I passed NCLEX 72 hours ago and am awaiting formal licensure?" The BON has had my application since June so I assume they already verified that I have no criminal record, etc.....Thanks for any tips.

That is so cool. Thank you so much for the info, nyforlove. I passed on 23rd as well, and I still have not seen my name on the BON's website neither. I will definitly go to the job fair on Oct. 11th and bring my own water :)

nyforlove: when I used this number to call and put in my SSN I heard "this SSN could not be found". Does it mean they are still working on it or they don't even have my file? Did you hear the same message?

hi everyone,

[color=#483d8b]clueless here, i applied for licensure in ny passed the nclex on sept 23. i am wondering if i would be automatically licensed without completing the child abuse and infection control yet, are those needed asap in order to have a license number? will it mean no license number if those were not done? im planning to do the child abuse and infection control next week though next week though.

I got it! I saw my number on the BON's website just now! I checked it today during the day it was not there, but a minute ago (10:20pm) I checked it again, (all because I set it as my homework for IE) it was there! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have one question: I took the exam last Friday and got the quick result on sunday--pass. I also received the mail from BON said i passed the exam yesterday, but still can't find my name till now. Do i need to finish the child abuse first to get my license?

Congrats! My name still isn't on the web site :( Haven't tried the phone number...We both passed Sept 23 and both live in NYC...hhmmmm...I'll keep checking.....

If you recently graduated from a NYS nursing program, the child abuse part should've been included in your curriculum....

Yeah, it takes awhile in NY to get the results. I actually called the BON's phone number daily starting around day four to verify an active license (you can do that at any time, too, it's a 518 number) and nearly keeled over one morning when I HEARD my NUMBER!!! I kept hitting the "repeat" option to hear it again....SO exciting. I then immediately went to the website (again, had been going there daily, lol) and there it was. :D

Nope, not going to job fair, I'm now gainfully employed, but it sure looks like fun! AND you get 50% off Advance Shop stuff (the magazine catalog). Have a great time :)

Nyforlove. I am in your boat. I took my test on Sept 21, found out I passed on the 23rd. Received the letter from state education department (which had my pic on it,) that I PASSED!! Now here is the enigma. A classmate of mine took the test the same day as mine, their name is on the BON website 6 days later, mine... not there. Another classmate took it the day AFTER me, her name was listed 7 days after her test date.

Now it has been 9 days and counting, today is Saturday, so I guess I'll have to wait until Monday, (which will be the 12th day). I wonder why it takes so long for certain people. This is emotionally draining. I've called the number and they said my SSN is not on file, but I guess that's because I'm not licensed yet. Once your actually licensed then you hear the number ............. *Sigh*

When I call on Monday, I will definitely question them why it took so long. We could be losing jobs to people who took test after us???

Yeah, you're right...there are real consequences to not getting listed promptly--like being passed over for jobs--but I told employers I had just passed and they seemed confident that the actual license would be forthcoming...I wonder what the BON's "system" is for processing---how could someone passing it AFTER you who also graduated at the SAME time as you--be licensed BEFORE you? Hhhmmm, I'll check again Monday and hopefully my # will be on-line so I can print it and have it ready for interviews.....
