Taking my NCLEX tomorrow. Today Im focusing on meds and vaccines. Anyone who has taken the NCLEX recently have any advice on which meds and vaccines to focus on? I saw the study guide thats floating around and it has a list of meds but theyre all brand names! I thought the NCLEX only had generic names of meds.

On the day before the NCLEX, I think it's a good idea to rest your brain and do something you enjoy instead of last minute cramming. I'm pretty sure I was not tested on vaccines when I took the NCLEX, but that was back in 2008. I do remember being surprised by at least 3 psychotropic medication questions on the exam. If you do study vaccines, here is a quick guide on childhood schedules. Took it Thursday and passed in 75, had a TON of meds.. Most I've seen some never heard of and yes generic names! I also had influenza imm question

what kind of med questions mostly? side effects; teaching; SATA; contraindications?

I agree with mariebailey. Today is not the day to be learning new things. I studied for 5 weeks from graduation until 2 days before NCLEX. On the day before, I went shopping, got my nails done and spent time in the kitchen cooking several meals for my very much neglected family. On the day of NCLEX I slept in until about 0900 (my test was at noon) and ate a nutritious breakfast before I headed out the door. I passed in 75 questions in about an hour and a half. I also do not recall any questions regarding vaccinations. I had a few drug questions related to safety with warfarin and NSAIDs (peptic ulcer disease) and all drug names were generic only. No brand/trade names. I tested on 1/21/15.

-Hurst Live Review which was right after graduation. That was 3 days then I went over all the content over about another 10 days.

-The entire Saunders ebook (all 5172 questions) I averaged 72-78% on those. I spent about 10 days on that.

-After I finished Saunders I took the Hurst Q Review tests. I averaged 75% on those 6 tests.

-LaCharity Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment book. I worked on that book for about 5 days before NCLEX.

I passed on my first try with 75 questions. Good luck to you. Let me know if you have any more questions.
