NCLEX in One Week - Encouragement/Advice welcomed!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone,

I take my NCLEX in roughly a week. I have been using Kaplan and have been studying for roughly 6 weeks. I just completed question trainer 7 yesterday and got a 57. My instructor said that we wanted to be in the 55-60% range to take the NCLEX. I know I've improved and i'm going to remediate qt 7 today/tomorrow and then do qbank questions up until my test/look over labs, etc. I've completed all 7 question trainers, have 3 of the sample RN tests done (I got an 80% on priorities and take the sata one friday), and I've done almost half of the qbank. I'm still just so nervous. Is 57 really okay? Any advice, words of encouragement, etc is much appreciated. I'M JUST SO READY TO PASS THIS THING!

My kaplan scores were roughly in the same range! I completed about 90% of the Qbank prior to my test. I tested yesterday, so I don't have my results yet, but I'd say you're on the right track to passing your test! I would just tell you to keep taking Qbank quizzes and making sure you read the rationales! I spent a lot of time reading rationales and looking stuff up. I found that the Kaplan rationales weren't all that helpful sometimes! I also looked at the rationales for answers that I got right but just simply guessed! Keep doing what your doing and go in and give it your best shot!

Good of luck!

Thank you, best of luck to you as well in getting your results! Let me know how it works out.

So I found out that I passed! :) Keep doing what you're doing and I think you'll great! Good luck and keep us updated!!

Congratulations! Thats wonderful news. Hopefully this time next week I'll be in your spot. Definitely keep telling myself I'm going to pass everyday, now for it to happen. I will let you know!

I remember I had 61% from qtrainer 4 to 6 but mostly what helped me to pass was uworld. I wish you all the best, know your labs too

Specializes in NICU.

Here are my Q Trainer score and I passed at 75 questions.

My q Trainers were:

1 62.7

2 70.7

3 61.0

4 60.7

6 68.5

Your Q trainer scores are better than mine. But, you can't correlate your scores to mine and say "If my scores are better than his than I should have NCLEX shut by question X". Do you have a very good chance of passing with those scores? yes. Problem is it is the luck of the draw when it comes to the questions and the sequence of the questions. If it had asked me questions on my weaknesses (Mental Health, developmental milestones, certain drug side effects) I could have taken 140 questions.

The key to the test is to relax. Excessive anxiety can sabotage your chances to pass. Walk into the test believing that you have done everything can do and you are prepared (Q tests are good). Look for a pattern in the test. Mine was obvious. Got a multi choice question correct and next was a SATA, got the SATA wrong, next was multi choice. I alternated between multi choice and SATA with a few drag and drop questions. That allowed me to relax and felt good because NCLEX's computer adaptive testing looks for a narrow saw tooth pattern to stop the test.

Well I took it today. Took about 3 hrs. Shut off at 75 questions. 15 sata, 3 or 4 exhibits, a good bit of who do you see first, what's the first thing you do, what's the most important thing you do. Felt like I passed but I keep going back and forth on it. My last question was a sata

Good Luck! Im keeping my fingers crossed for you! You'll have to let us know your results!

My license number was posted on the Board of Nursing this afternoon! I passed!

Congratulations nurse! :)
