My NCLEX Experience

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello fellow Nurses! This site has helped me tremendously during my journey to pass the NCLEX so I figured I'd share my story. I graduated from Veeb 2014 and took about 2 months off from anything "nursing". In November I began studying the Saunders book and did practice questions online. I was scoring 50%-60% and felt very discouraged so I decided to go to a review class in West Hempstead, NY called READY TO PASS. I felt it helped me with prioritizing and they have tons of mneumonics to help remember things. One week after the review course I took my NCLEX and the computer shut off at 85 questions. I KNEW I FAILED. I had about 10-15 Select all that apply, 1 drag and drop and two images, 3 calculations, No audio and about 5 drugs questions. I felt so discouraged and started thinking of a new plan to master the NCLEX second time around. This morning I paid for the Quick results and learned that I PASSED!! I am still shocked because I thought by the computer shutting off at 85 questions that I failed miserably when really I did pretty good for it to shut off at the minimum and pass. One thing I will say is, you're gonna feel like you failed regardless because those questions have a way of making you feel like you know absolutely nothing! Don't doubt yourself and it ain't over until it's over so don't be like me and start preparing for studying for the NCLEX the second time around. (I even went as far as ordering Exam Cram on Amazon but something told me to wait lol) Good lucks to all the future nurses out there!

Oh! I'd also like to add like I went on Pearson Vue to do the "trick" and it brought me to the credit card page but I didn't submit my credit card info. I also did not get a "GOOD" pop up like everyone on here talks about. Moral of the story! Don't be discouraged and start telling yourself you failed until you know for sure and read those results on the website.

I don't know anyone who actually felt like they passed after taking the NCLEX. I, too, felt as if I failed miserably, but somehow I passed. I must say, the NCLEX is the most diabolical test I've ever taken.

how did the ReadytoPass review help you? I feel like we were probably in the same class..lol. I wont be taking mines till ending of the month, due to space availablilty. I remember them telling us to taking the exam no later than ONE month after the Readytopass review.(mine was ending of November)

Ive gone thru the entire book and mnemonics and started doing the 101 question booklet. Any other advice would be appreciated!!! :)

Thanks for the encourage And also congrats! :)

I failed Nclex twice using Kaplan didn't help me.. so NOw I am using Saunders & Hurst... any tips?

Hey yes maybe we were in the same class because I took ready to pass the end of November too. I feel like RTP helped me with prioritizing like who would you help first. In my opinion, I don't think their questions are all that great compared to NCLEX style questions. If I had to do it over I would get the Kaplan Q-Bank because Saunders questions nor RTP questions are NCLEX styled but I heard Kaplan Q-Bank questions are similar to NCLEX, if not harder. I will say this! Do not get scared if you see a lot of select all that apply or drug questions and think you're failing because I got a TON of SATA and I passed with 85 questions. Because I listened to other people and compared their NCLEX experience to mine, based on the amount of SATA questions I got I thought I failed. Good luck on your test!!

I heard Kaplan was really good. I planned on using it had I failed. Saunders is really good for content in my opinion. But it's a lot! I've heard people say HURST is amazing, and better than Saunders so between those two you should be very well prepared. Know your content and do practice questions and you should be good. Good luck!!
