Kaplan Videos

I had access to the videos, but it didn't come with a book. It came with Kaplan On Demand (all online videos and Qbank)

i think it really depends on what kind of learner you are. i only used kaplan to study and i purchased their video/qtrainer/qbank/ebook review. i tried reading through the ebook but i get distracted easily and really wasn't retaining anything from it. i learn better when i listen/take my own notes. the videos are VERY long and boring and most are 2-4 hours each section so keep that in mind. i forced myself to sit and listen to them all of them and take notes. i really learned a lot that way

from what i can tell, the ebook has a lot more important information to know but the videos are informative and go through the main ideas without all the details the ebook has. i was alittle worried about this but my opinion was that you can't know everything for this test and there was no way i was going to memorize everything anyway so i made sure to just know what was gone over in the videos

i took the nclex on the 15th and passed. videos were a really good review for me but again, i think it really depends on you and what works better for review and if you have the time/attention to listen to all the videos.

The videos (the content and question videos) are helpful. I listened to the videos and followed what was said using the Kaplan ebook on my iPad. I found this prevented me from being board/distracted.

I am currently using Kaplan to prepare also. It was part of our last semester for school, so we were required to use it. I watched the videos and followed along in the book also. In most of the videos, there is a slide that shows "Need to Know" information for the topic being discussed. I wrote those down in the course book and then starred/highlighted that content. The instructors also mention some things that are not in the book but they say are important, I wrote those down too. They also only pointed out some of the information that was written, so I focused on that too - figuring if they weren't making a point to say it then it wasn't "priority" information. This helped me stay focused during the whole length of the videos - because they are long! I take my boards tomorrow........so we shall see if it helped!

Kaplan has an ebook and actual book. I bought the actual book - I don't like reading books on line; I like to sit in a comfortable place to read. Second, Kaplan has two kinds of videos: content videos and question videos. Yes, their content videos are good but extremely long and boring! The folks doing the videos rarely crack a smile (or make learning fun) though the information is right on. You can get all the info in the book. The other videos - question videos are EXCELLENT! The question videos are about 50 questions each from the 5-6 categories on NCLEX - a total of 300 questions. Many of the questions are within the Qtrainer/Qbank and basically they go over each question, show you how to determine the stem and put it in your own words and to evaluate and eliminate answer choices. I give the question videos a 10/10. For content, I relied on Hurst and Saunders. If you want excellent core content (explained in a fun, easy way) use Hurst!
