Just finished Lpn program...

I just kept answering questions and reading the rationals. I used Uworld, my scores were about 60-69 on exams of unanswered questions only. I also used NCLEX 3000 (just search it in google, you'll pop up with a response something to the effect of wiregrass.edu) and my scores were around 65-75. The rationals in Uworld helped me immensely and the questions were very similar to those of the NCLEX. I passed NCLEX-PN with 85 questions in a little under 90 minutes. I probably did about 500 questions per week for about 4 weeks collectively. For context, I graduated in February as a consistent B student (87-89%), felt very uncertain about most of the subject matter, and took the NCLEX following a major death in the family. Essentially what I am saying is that you can still do very well with limited studying, even if you don't feel confident with the material.

Hello I graduated pn school on march 22nd, took my nclex this passed Monday and found out I passed this following Wednesday. I used uworld and I reread the Saunders pn fundamentals chapter. I highly recommend reading that chapter. Uworld us great but i really believe that if I hadn't reread that I wouldn't have passed. I passed with 85 questions btw. Took me about 2 hours. I first did uworld 3 weeks before I graduated. My score was 55%. When renewed it, it came with a self assessment and I took that, which I scored 61%. According to uworld that gave me a very high chance of passing. I studied a little over a month before I took my test. Like literally everyday I would do questions or read. Even if I only had 30 min! In my opinion answering questions just isn't enough, you actually have to understand the content! I have a friend who graduated nursing school almost two years before me but she can't seem to pass because she doesn't understand the content.

I agree. You truly need to understand the content. There are many NCLEX books to teach you how to do tricks but you will need to apply the knowledge at your first job. the best way to put it is you pay now or you pay later but sooner or later everybody pays. NCLEX tricks do nothing but demonstrate an example of ego centrism and prepare an unsafe nurse. It's truly best to learn the material now and be prepared for your first job than to struggle and go back to re-learning the material between job orientation. Your nurse manager will expect you to know the basics which means understanding normal and abnormal A&P, Maslow hierarchy needs to prioritize and organize your day, delegation to improve team efficiency and patient satisfaction, SBAR to talk to other care team members.

These are all topics in the NCLEX as well as topics for your first job.

She is very stubborn! She has unfortunately failed the nclex several times and yet she still thinks she has all the answers. After I passed my test I gave her my study tips and left it at that.

Taking it over and over gets pretty costly, but at least she has you to give her good study tips :)
