This is the day that the lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
I finally passed nclex the second time around. I gave this test MY ALL. Here is my story.
My whole life has revolved around helping others. I decided to be a nurse when i shadowed one at medical center of Arlington and that was how it all begun.
I attend ASU and graduated with my associate in nursing may 2011, took nclex the first time using NCSBN (2weeks) and NSNA endorsed book. I figured who else can prepare me for the test better than the people who wrote it. I WAS WRONG I also thought well since i just graduated the only thing left to do is focus on how to answer nclex stlye question so i decided to do all questions, less content. WRONG AGAIN! I failed the first time with 124 questions.
I took two weeks off to recup and got back on my study grind july 12, 2011. After reading many many thread on allnurses about different materials, i decided to use hurst review (for content), lacharity for (P, D, A) and Kaplan strategies 2011-2012( for understanding nclex). I created a study plan, did the best i knew to do and left God to take control of the rest.
A month before my test, a friend of mine (who passed yay!!) told me i could use his kaplan account he still had a month and didnt need it anymore. I started doing the QTrainers and Qbank questions. I also found great, concise info on allnurses that helped me understand complex material.
I have to say kaplan helped ALOT. I thought the question were harder than NCLEX. I took my time on the test, read each question over and over, and made sure i had no regret pushing that next button. 4hrs and 75 questions later the blue screen popped up. I felt like crying but i thought, well this is the moment of truth. I rushed home tried the PVT and got the good pop-up. I was so happy, i felt to my knees and and gave ALL the glory to God.
My suggestion to future test taker is:
1. Put it ALL in the hands of GOD
a. Isaiah 41:10
b. Proverbs 3:6
c. Deuteronomy 31:8
2. Make a study plan and try as much as you can to stick to it.
a. I did a week to week plan for example ( week 1 and 2 were contents and questions. For example, when i studied cardio chapter, i ended the day with questions pertaining to cardio)
3. BELIEVE you can do it and surround yourself with positive people.
the week of my test i made sure not to read sad threads. i only read positive threads on people who passed. i also didn't answer phone calls i knew would discourage or depress me. Big thank you to everyone on this website. I am so happy the world still has good people who care about each other.
4. TRUSTED GOD.
