How to study for NCLEX??

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey guys! I recently graduated from my diploma nursing school May 20th and received my ATT letter to test on June 28th. I've been doing review questions everyday and reading over content that I'm weak in. Right now I'm using a review book from a company known as "F&S review," the 4th edition of saunders q&a review book, and "prioritization, delegation, and assignement:practice exercises for the NCLEX examination" by LaCharity, Kumagai, and Bartz. To those that have passed NCLEX recently, do you think this is sufficient studying for the test or do you recommend any other programs? And Kaplan is not an option for me...too expensive! Thanks so much!

If you do some reading in the NCLEX forum you will find that you have some of the review resources that others have used to successfully pass the exam. Just make wise use of them. Most people suggest that one should do as many questions as possible and study the rationales. Good luck.

I just found out I passed this morning. ;) So here are my thoughts:

Kaplan IS an option...

I found the Kaplan question trainers accidentally online when I was studying for NCLEX. Just type in "nclex question trainer" on Google!! I used the first link that comes up. :D The internet is an amazing resource.

I took those Kaplan tests. I also got a little Kaplan book and took the 2 practice tests from there (includes the CD). And I took a practice test in a Saunders book. I gotta say... Kaplan questions are quite comparable to actual NCLEX questions. So I recommend it. It's good to go over your weak spots as well. I did 3,000 questions total before taking NCLEX. I had notebooks full of notes I took from the rationales (even the questions I got correct) and went over that. And MEMORIZE LAB VALUES.

I am doing Kaplan on demand, Q-bank, lab values, isolations, and LaCharity!!

I think Kaplan, like you said is "most-like" the questions that are seen on the boards!!

Say a prayer for me please!! :clown:

I am on another attempt at the RN-NCLEX, so I have done soooo many!!

This time, I have done Kaplan ( Q bank and question trainers, probably 1500 at least )

Plus exam cram and la charity.

I don't know how to give an exact #.

Are you asking for a particular reason?

Are you sitting?

Jo

I used a Kaplan Practice & Strategy book, Saunders 4e, LaCharity, Exam Cram, Hurst Review dvds, and these books that came with the mandatory NCLEX course my school held. I take my test tomorrow so I will let you know what worked and what was most helpful.
