How many attempts at NCLEX allowed?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello,

I'm a Canadian nurse (LPN) and a BSN student in my third year due to graduate in 2015.

After reading some discussion forums I see that multiple attempts (more than 3) are allowed at the NCLEX, I could be wrong but I think thats what I have gathered from the topic discussions?

I'm just wondering if there is a cut off at number of attempts? As of January 2015 Canadian BSN students will be writing the NCLEX developed by the makers of the US one. The current exam all Canadian BSNs write currently is a 200 MC paper based tested that you have 4 hours to complete and ONLY 3 attempts are allowed before you have to take your entire degree over again if you want to be eligible to write the exam again!

Thanks!

Depends on the state for the US but expect things to remain the same for Canada and 3 attempts

There is not a limit, but some states, mine included, require the individual to take a class after the third failed attempt and I believe that there must be 45 days between each attempt as well.

There are a few states that have max # attempts then go back to school for remediation Then there are others where you can take the test as many time as you can afford to pay the BoN & Pearson the re-test fee
