For those who took KAPLAN and passed NLEX..

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

HI all!

First of all, congrats! I am scheduled to take the NCLEX next week and am starting to flip out.

I have a question for you all... do the questions that are offered by Kaplan reflect the types of questions that are on NCLEX? I completed the Kaplan program and am now simply studying questions and occasionally some content. However, I am using only the Kaplan quest. Just hoping that I am Ok with that.

Any input??

I am so happy to see that you guys are also getting lower scores on the questions (no offense)!!! I was starting to worry! I bought the online question review which I really really like!!! Still scoring on the lower end but I like it!!! :-)

I just can't wait for this all to be over (1 week)!!!!!

PICURN... did you pass? I saw a lot of posts from you and I am just waiting to see THE ONE!!! :coollook: good luck I am sure you did fine w/ 75 ques!

I've been using the Kaplan trainer CD and got 68%, 79%, 67%, and 63% (took this last one when I was really tired and late at night) on the 4 tests I've taken. But I don't really feel ready and I know that with anxiety, I'll probably do a lot worse... So I'm not sure if I should go take the test or not.... But it looks like I'm on par with those who've already passed the NCLEX, so maybe I should  thanks again for your help!

Hey....don't lose hope!!

I took mine on 2/11 and just found out I passed today!! I had to wait 12 days to see my name on the CA BON website. So chances are you passed but CA BON is kinda slow these days.

Hang in there!!! I totally know how you feel!!

Hope to hear good news from you soon!!

Maybe I'm not giving Kaplan its due. I too passed with 75 questions. I also reviewed a lot of content, and used a couple of other review books. But I would imagine that part of my success is due to Kaplan, if not from simply doing multiple questions during the classes. I just felt that I could have done questions on my own, and learned their strategies from a store bought Kaplan book. I didn't think it was worth the money, but like I said, maybe it helped more than I realize.

Good luck to you!

Okay so I have to ask you. Someone gave me the "Course Book" and the question trainer CD. If I paid for the course is it safte to say that he only thing that I would be missing would be someone going over the questions, that I already have? I have almost every review book/cd and am not due to graduate until June.

Thanks

Julie

You are missing the classroom part. They lecture on what is in the book, and highlight the most important parts for you to focus on. They also ask additional questions...like 50 or so at the end of each "section" and go over the rationale. You are also missing the test-taking strategy section of the course where they teach you how to narrow it down and pick the right answer (well they try and help you pick the right one!). So basically you have the course content and practice questions.

Just to add: if you buy Kaplan's "NCLEX-RN Exam", you can get their test-taking strategies from it. This book was helpful to me.

If I had to do it over, I would not have taken the class, especially if someone had given me the course book (which I thought was very helpful). I got bored in class--the instructors went way too slowly for me.

I really enjoyed the class. I also had the Kaplan book that they sold in stores but I felt that the class really helped. Also, if you sign up you have access to A LOT more study questions at the center b/c they allow you to use the ones for internation nurses which are great. There are also stream lined videos which go over the content. I would pay for the class if you can afford it. Put it this way, it'll end up paying for itself over and over again once you pass! (by the way I couldn't afford it and I did it anyway).

Howdy Everyone,

I have been sooooooooo busy with nursing school that I have not interacted on the message board since I started school.

I have averaged all B's so far. I'am on my lasted semester. I graduate within 3 and 1/2 months.

I have a question regarding the Mosby test. I took the Mosy test I purchased the test myself and sent away for my answers to be evealuated.

The evaluation came back showing that out of 265 questions, I only answered 155 questions correct, which scares the hell out of me.

When I told my teacher my score she looked at me with a grunt and facial expression that said to me that my score was not a good one.

She than commented that It was still early in the game and I had not yet finished the final semester so not to worry.

But after her facial expression and grunt its hard for me not to worry. :(

My understanding is that this Mosby test is suppose to give an estimation on the likelyhood of my ability to passs the NCLEX.

Has anyone taken this test and also scored this low, and yet passed the NCLEX the first time around? Any response to my letter would be appriciated.

Sincerly Terri

YES you can buy that book and it has the strategies in that (I totally forgot about that!) and I too would be bored in the classes, which is why I bought the online version so I could go as fast/slow as I wanted!
