i took my nclex yesterday and ended up in 76 questions, went home and got the cc page in PVT. everyone in this forum who got the cc page end up failing. i am so devastated but i have to move on, i admit that i did not focus well on studying thinking that nclex is same as the Phil board exam, plus i have 2 jobs, so i did only 100 questions a day. i am doing saunders 4th edition, the 5th ed cd, kaplan review book and PDA but still i failed. now for those who failed and passed, could you give me some advise? i am planning to stop on my other job just to study for this nclex, i will be taking it again within 45 days. i want to know if KAPLAN online course is worth the penny. hoping for your response. please lift me up... thanks

Could there be such a thing as studying too much? I barely passed my nursing classes with all C+ and a couple B-, and took Kaplan as part of my school's curriculum which was 2 weeks, and full access to their test banks.

I scheduled my nclex for 1 month after the end of kaplan, but didn't really sit down and study until about 1.5 weeks till my test date. I never opened up any of my books, or took notes, or made index cards. Never went back to look back at the books to look at lab values, s/s, etc. What I did do was look over this cheat sheet every morning on my way to/from summer classes (total of 40min/day looking over) which is great because it breaks down all the major things you need to know: https://allnurses.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8687&d=1310076980

I'd do a qbank 50-question exam here and there. But when it got closer to the exam date about 2 weeks from, I started doing 1-2 each day. By the night before my exam, I finished ALL the qbank questions and QTrainers. Look over the rationales and keep going. Kaplan is formatted the same as the NCLEX, so when you take it, you feel like its just another kaplan exam at home.

Passed in 75 questions, under an hour.

i am planning to buy the Davis's book as well. i'm not so sure about which one to choose between the kaplan and hurst thought. kaplan will help you about the set up of the CAT while hurst, i think, is more on content. i'm still thinking very well. thanks and congrats kabayan...

i think US nursing students are taught well about the NCLEX. everyone has their own strategy of learning. you might graduate then took the nclex right away. therefore, all the contents are still fresh and retained in your mind (stock knowledge as what they say). i did that too while taking the Philippine board exam way back 2010. after grad i took it right away and passed it with 83%. but then, 3 year passed by and i am working 2 jobs at the same time studying. so i didn't focus too much on nclex. i was overwhelmed with the CAT as well. congrats by the way...

Thanks. Now I'm concerned with my friend who went to the Philippines to do her nursing. I know over there the hands on experience is WAY better than in the US. If you would have taken your Philippine boards, then came to the US and taken the NCLEX soon after, do you think you would have had trouble?

What is your current stance on kaplan online?

Hey lemuel KABABAYAN. Just put your dedication and time for sure you will pass the 2nd time. Since you got the bad popup (cc page) did you tried doing it again after a week? If so, did it still giving you the same cc page? Please let me know. Salamat.
