failed nclex rn

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello everyone,

Today was a very sad day for me. I took the RN nclex on friday and found out today that I didn't pass. I prayed and prayed about it during the test that God would help me and pass me :( I just felt really down in the dumps today and I need some advice from you all as to what is the best test prep for the nclex, Kaplan, hurst review, etc?

I did do the saunders review and purchased the kaplan's book, but that only. Please feel free to give me any advice, thanks so much!

Hello AMberjo,

Thanks so much for responding back to me. Yes, this does help. I think what gets me on the nclex the first time is who to see first, or who can you discharge home during a disaster? If I can apply and eliminate answers to two answers or one answer that would be great. I think I just need to think about the questions and see which one is chronic, which you could send that person home vs. someone who is needing iv fluids.. You are very kind! Please say a little prayer that I pass. I will take it in about four weeks :)!

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site and was compelled to join because of the many testimonies and support offered. I also found out I failed the NCLEX this month and I have been having a difficult time moving forward. I was in denial for about a week, and could not accept the fact that I actually failed it. I got all 265 questions and stayed the entire 6 hours! I think I am slowly recovering and building my confidence back up, but I am moving in baby steps. I am hesitant in getting back into my study regimen. I do not know how to structure my study plan this time around because I felt like I did everything I could the first time but didn't pass. I took the HURST review and I devoted 3 straight weeks 7-8hrs a day. Content, practice tests, rationales. I was only scoring 49% on the Kaplan trainers and 50-60% on HURST exams. I am unsure how to begin a new study plan because I have no idea what went wrong last time I studied. Anyone who failed the NCLEX the first time, do anything differently in studying the second time??

Hi Jewls! I totally understand what you are going through. I did the Kaplan review and studied hard and prayed so hard...just to find out after 265 questions that I didn't pass. I was so upset. I gave myself 2 days to cry and try to figure out what went wrong. I know a lot of it was because I have really bad test anxiety...I was even stumbling into the testing center and dropping my things on the ground. I was so nervous. But...I'm trying so much now the second time around to stay focused. I am studying the Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2011-2012 Strategies, Practice, and Review. The first time around, I was only practicing the questions, but I find this book to be very helpful in helping in breaking the questions down, help you prioritize and choose the right answer. A lot of people I know that passed studied from this book...as well as from Exam Cram and Saunders. We can do this! We shall never give up! We will pass! We have to trust in God that he will help us become nurses! =)

808BSNRN...hopefully soon...

Specializes in SICU.

I would recommend Lippincotts Q and A, it has 6,000 questions.

You can review until your face turns blue, but if you don't know HOW to answer the questions, it is hard to pass.

(I say this as the person who reviewed notes 2 weeks after graduation, didnt touch an NCLEX book until 12 days before the test, i would do ~200 questions a day: I passed with 80 Questions.)

You can do this! Good Luck!

Keep hope alive... do not let a test get you down. The lord has brought you too far to turn back now...

I highly recommend kaplan! It was great! I studied with kaplan for about 6 wks took nclex rn and passed 1st time with 75 questions!

I used Lacharity, Exam cram, Kaplan Qtrainers through slides share, and Saunders for my nclex RN....just do a lot of practice questions ..you will be fine! Good luck!
