ERI Review for NCLEX

Has anyone taken the class offered by ERI for review for the NCLEX?? It is mandatory that we take it, and it's AWFUL!! We've just had one day of the four, and I don't want to go back. The instructor just read straight off her powerpoint slides and didn't even really give us time to read the questions and answers before she had moved on to the next question.

I was just wondering if anyone else had taken it, and what your experiences were with it. I was hoping it was going to help, but it doesn't seem that it's going to...

Hi. I graduated a year ago in FL and ERI was mandatory for us too. I agree, IT IS AWFUL! My advice, just do it, get it over with. Maybe, just maybe, it will help some with your state boards. Good Luck!

Hi! Your question about ERI made me laugh. Myself and 2 classmates went to the ERI NCLEX review class as well. It was exactly as you described. We went for the morning session and didn't return for the afternoon or the next 3 days. We decided that we could learn more effectively studying on your own!!

I wish I could do that!! This unfortunately is part of our grade and if we do not attend or make all the lost time up by Friday at 3, we do not graduate! It's awful how they hold these things over our heads!!

Oh the days of ERI..

It was mandatory for me as well ( I graduated in Pennsylvania).

My thoughts? Bring your own book to study from and just ignore the teacher. The way our classroom was set up, you couldnt even see the powerpoint slides unless you sat in the front row. Impossible as there were 3 schools there.

My friends and I also brought crossword puzzle books, and word searches, and magazines. Personally I paid no attention to the woman, did my own thing, studied for a few weeks after graduation, and passed my nclex on the first try with 75 questions.

I dont know when schools will start realizing how horrible the ERI review course is..

ERI SUCKS!!!!! I think they make deals with the schools, under the table deals. It was required for my class too. It was no help at all. Sorry, you could make fake eyes and sleep through the course.

We had to take ERI tests at different points throughout school but we weren't required to get a certain score or anything. Maybe somebody from ERI will read some of this and get a clue!!

Sounds the same as mine.

I'm doing a Kaplan review in a couple of weeks and I'm curious to see how they compare.

Our ERI lady sent a feedback sheet around at the end... be sure to include suggestions so that it can be improved for future groups!!

We've had to do ERI reviews & tests every single semester! For us it's mandatory to at least hit the national average on each test...or no graduation! The class I'm in now has required a 40 hour review (on our own time & was also dated 2004!) that had a pre & post-test. I agree with the OP about just doing it to get it done...especially if it means graduating. I didn't feel I got much out of it either, I think my tuition could have been better spent. Hang in there & just do what you have to do! :wink2:
