Do you take NCLEX twice if you do an adn bsn completion program?

No you take the NCLEX RN after completing your entry to practice education (diploma, ASN , BSN ELMSN).

Once a person has taken and passed NCLEX, (s)he should never have to take it again. BSN completion programs have no bearing on one's licensure if you already possess a nursing license.

You do not have to take the NCLEX to obtain a degree. There are several routes (paths) to obtaining the entry-level education necessary to become a nurse and most of those result in a degree being awarded. I have earned an ADN. Should I decide to earn a BSN, I simply must find a way to take the required coursework and upon satisfactory completion of that program, I would earn that BSN.

I very easily could be someone that earns an ADN and then a BSN without becoming licensed. I would be, at that point, a BSN-educated person but I couldn't call myself a nurse because I hadn't earned the license.

Your entry-level degree program is what "earns" you the ability to take the NCLEX as that's a separate exam that essentially proves that you have been educated sufficiently well to be a safe entry-level (beginning) nurse.

It's akin to taking a driver's test. You can take all the driver's ed you want, up to and including Commercial Driver, but if you don't ever take the exam and get licensed, you can't legally drive the car on your own and actually be a licensed driver.

Thankfully, no :)

ADN, BSN, those are degrees obtained through colleges. Licenses are obtained through State Boards of Nursing, and that only has to be done once (provided you don't lose it or let it lapse, etc etc etc).

You can pile on as many degrees as you like :D
