5th time testing/5th time failing

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took my NCLEX for the 5th time yesterday. I went in feeling good and left feeling terrible. I took all 265 questions and when I left, I felt as if I was going to vomit. I tried the pvt and did not get the "good" pop up. So now I wait for my official results to see what I need to focus on. I am getting so frustrated because I know the material, and I just can't seem to pass this test.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions for me? I have done Kaplan and ATI. Got the green light on both yet I can't pass the NCLEX.

I feel like such a failure.

Have you tried Hurst

Don't feel like a failure! You will pass this test. We are on the same boat so just keep your head up! Perhaps maybe you're like me and need to practice answering questions better. Because we know the material, we just don't pick the right answer consistently. I am going to try the PrepU course to get more questions to practice and it's reasonably priced. So this may be an option for you. I haven't tried ATI before but at this point after failing multiple times I found Kaplan repetitive.

Thanks. I agree that Kaplan is repetitive, as is ATI.

I also feel that the school I went to let me down. They did nothing to teach us test taking skills.

The NCLEX is really a whole other beast compared to nursing school. That test really is not like anything we have seen before. Like the pp said you may not be struggling with content as much as you are with figuring out what which answer is the best to pick. I know that the Davis success books have good though questions with really good rationals. I also used PrepU and they have CAT test style with 8 levels of difficulty. I found that levels 6-8 were about the same level of difficulty. Keep your head up, you will pass this!

No I haven't tried Hurst, can you tell me anything about it?
