4th time taking NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi guys! So this is the 4th time I'm preparing to take the NCLEX and I'm completely distraught and cannot seem to find the encouragement to start studying. Is there ANY advice on how to study or what to study this time around? Thanks to everyone and goodluck!

Oh gosh that does sound very daunting. Welcome to AN, the largest nursing peer to peer network.

We have a very active NCLEX forum: NCLEX Discussion Forum

Best wishes.

What do your performance reports entail?

Are you an international trained nurse or an ESL (English as a second language) student?

There can be several factors that is impeding your process to NCLEX success.

The issue may not necessarily the source of the review, but how one approaches the NCLEX itself: understanding the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?

Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can do so successfully.

The NCSBN website has a breakdown of what questions are categorized in the four concepts; also Kaplan gives strategies on those particular concepts; I didn't use the decision tree at all; I used NCSBN for questions and used Saunders NCLEX flash cards which broke down questions specifically to the four

concepts.

That's ok I am preparing to take it third time! what did you use first to prepare? How was your last CPR? I used Hurst/kaplan didn't help as much improved me.. so now I will improve more my contents using Kaplan Content Review and NCBSN 5 weeks and of course PDA... whats your plan?

Hi, read every system and do the questions from that same system.. Don't lose hope. Keep reviewing the points all the time. U will do it....

I have decided to go through each nclex category this time around and just really understand what it is in that category nclex will cover

will retake in 2015

Wish you the best! And happy holidays!
