2015 Pearson Vue Trick

Nursing Students NCLEX

I wanted to post about the whole "pearson vue trick" because over the past year people have said it works and doesn't work.

I tested on 8/4/15. At no point before my unofficial results did I receive the "good pop-up". I entered in all my information up to before actually hitting the submit payment button when trying the trick. Some people say the pop-up should happen before, but it didn't and I wasn't about to submit a $200 payment if I passed.

I did pass by the way!

I live in Illinois and if you do too you can go to the continental testing website where you signed up for you ATT number and click "get your application status and grades" put in your information and see if they have your grade up yet. If it says "incomplete for licensure" under overall exam results that DOES NOT mean you failed. That just means they don't have your results yet. When the bottom of the page has your exam date and grade listed is when you can find out if you passed. It works about a day before your pearson vue quick results. Mine said pass and so did my quick results! Words can not describe my relief!

Good luck to you all and I do want to encourage any one who does not pass to keep trying. I my self am a repeat test taker. It took a couple tries, but hard work does pay off! I recommend Hurst review and the Saunders nclex book for content review, and Kaplan for questions and test strategy!

You are confused as to what the PVT is.....and what it once was, prior to late August 2014.

Simply put, you did not actually DO the PVT. The "old way", if someone was attempting to register for a new exam (which is what the PVT IS), if that person reached a screen where credit card information was requested, that was the "bad pop up". A screen telling you that there was already an open registration was the "good pop up". If "some people" say anything else, they are most likely using very outdated information....as has happened to you.

Pearson Vue upgraded its registration software the last week of August, 2014. After that time, EVERYONE is ALWAYS directed to a credit card page. That fact alone means absolutely nothing. Therefore....if you don't follow through, it also means nothing.

If you submit the payment and it goes through, theoretically you have failed the exam. Or, you did it too early. Or, you were unlucky enough to have passed your exam but been charged anyway (you have to go through two screens informing you that the $200 is non-refundable). People can be foolish with their money, so....sometimes they lose it.

YOU never submitted any card info, so you never got a screen telling you that you could not register at this time (meaning you probably passed, but maybe not). You also didn't fork over $200 for no reason, since you DID ultimately pass.

Congrats on passing the exam.....and tell your friends to forget about the stupid game known as PVT unless they want to make themselves crazier than they already are in the post-NCLEX days ;)

Right. My whole point is that being prompted through the whole credit card process means nothing and that the so call PVT is not a thing anymore.

There's actually a lot more to it, but essentially it's a Magic 8 Ball. MOST of the time, the "prediction" does match up with the end result. Which is why there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of individual threads with thousands of posts on them discussing this very thing ;)

After someone puts in their credit card info, MOST of the time if they passed, they are not charged (or no charge attempt is made). MOST of the time. And then there are the exceptions, enough of them to remind people to be a wee bit more careful with their money! Some people, though....just can't sit on their hands. :o

So would I be correct in saying there is no way to do the PVT without actually submitting a $200 payment that may or may not be refunded? Because that's what I'm trying to get at here :)

Yes you actually have to hit submit for it to work. What you can do is .. enter your correct card information with an invalid expiration date to avoid an actual charge going through! If it's the "good" pop-up it will tell you an exam has recently been scheduled and another registration cannot be made at this time. With the "bad" pop-up it would tell you that your card information is invalid because it was trying to bill you for another exam.

No it may or may not be charged. You agree that there are no refunds when you hit I agree/submit the second time.

There is no way to attempt the registration glitch commonly referred to as the PVT without entering your credit card information and hitting submit.
