Mane with MetroState

I'm completely frustrated with MetroState. I've been admitted to NHCC, but MetroState has not accepted me yet.

They ask for this or that for admission, but then change their minds. They don't call me back when I try to figure out what it is they want now. Plus, I previously took a 300-level statistics course, but they won't accept it in lieu of the 100-level course they require.

It's been extremely frustrating. I doubt I will end up completing my BSN at MetroState. UW-Green Bay might be an option. I've already talked to them and they have been awesome. I need to do more research before I decide.

I haven't decided yet but I will say the cost of tuition is blow me away affordable. $300 + some per credit at a bachelors level is hard to be beat.

Yeah, it's super cheap. I was finally admitted on July 5. So, at least that part is cleared up. I guess I'll wait to see how much of the program can be done online. Flexibility may trump cheap (to some extent).

I completely agree!! I wish we had more of an idea of the format for the program (mostly online, in class, commitment)... or maybe I'm just missing it. The MANE representative at orientation gave me the impression it's going to be pretty time consuming as she made a statement advising against taking the nclex right after we graduate and then start spring BSN classes. That's my plan though so you're right, we will see!

I went to look at the MetroState curriculum plan. It's 46 credits. Mankato is only 30. So, even though MetroState is cheaper per credit, when everything is included, it could actually be the same or cheaper elsewhere.

I can't speak about Metro State in particular, but having gone to other schools, I'm pretty sure that pretty much all schools create similar frustrations with all students. I'm not sure if I'll continue with BSN right away but if I do I probably will stick with Metro State for ease of transfer and all of that.

Im attending Anoka in the Fall…they haven't really said anything to us about Metro's part of it. I received my acceptance letter to Metro and was a bit confused. WHen I met with a councilor at IHCC when I was applying, she told me that Metro's part was all online with the option of having in class time. I was planning on taking my NCLEX right away in December/January before BSN classes start. Does anyone else have more information on Metro???? and Who else is taking the NCLEX right away?????

The dual enrollment to Metro State is confusing to me. I understand that after going to CC we can go straight into BSN or just take the NCLEX, work for a bit, and then go back to MS to finish.

But what if we want to finish our ADN, take the NCLEX, and maybe go to another RN to BSN program? Will the fact that we are signing a paper stating we are accepting entrance into Metro State give us a problem later on if we perhaps don't want to attend and go to another program? The comments I've seen on these boards about Metro State are not encouraging.

When I read the contract paper that I would transfer to Metro State after my NCLEX exam, I clearly understood that we could not go to any other University to finish up our Bachelors of Science in Nursing. However, after reading many negatives things about Metro in this thread, I am really worried.
