Increasing levophed does increase the CVP, it does so by increasing the mean systemic filling pressure which increases venous return to the right heart.

Most of the attendings in our ICU do ultrasound IVC compressibility to assess fluid volume status.

We no longer CVPs in the ICU where I work. they are not considered good EBP compared to US IVC. They are still used for some things like the ARDS diuresis protocol

Yeah, that was the sense I was getting about IVC compression with sonography, but my eyes were a little opened when I read the last comment of the blog post above:

the commenter says that IVC compression is not much better than CVP?? that's not what the attendings in our unit do?
