Working at Henry Ford Macomb and St. John Hospitals in Michigan

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

:DHello, this is my first official question on allnurses!!! How exciting!! Before I ask my question I just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone on allnurses. I've read many things on here that have been extremely insightful and helpful. I'm very grateful and hope that now that I have joined that I can return the favor!! Okay, here's my question (Lord knows I'll probably have more--the floodgates have opened!) does anyone work for Henry Ford Hospital - Macomb (the Clinton Township and Warren location) in southeastern Michigan? If someone does, could you tell me what the working conditions are like there, nurse to patient ratio, how co-workers - nurses, doctors, etc. get along, good units to work for, etc., etc., etc.......... Oops!! Oh yeah, I forgot I just got my license. Hmm......I guess that still makes me a new grad RN, huh? Okay, and while were at it........You might as well throw in St. John Hospital (all locations - Detroit, Southfield, Novi, etc.) same questions. I'll stop here because I don't want to wear out my welcome!!!!

Congrats to you on graduating and obtaining your license! One of the girls I graduated from nursing school with has worked at Henry Ford-Macomb since we finished school. She likes it pretty well and said that they have good benefits.

My advice to you is to apply, apply, apply and then when you get your interviews, just ask to shadow on each potential unit. The hospital may be great overall but have some units that aren't in great shape or just might not be the right fit for you. Shadowing will help you to figure those things out. Good Luck!

REDDOG RN, when you have the Michigan forum on your page (you see all the threads at the bottom of the page and can scroll thru them), above the threads and below the MI Nursing Programs Discussion area is a small area, "New Thread."

Click on that and the template should appear for you to title then compose and submit your new thread. :)

I can tell you in my opinion there is a ton of horizontal and lateral workplace violence going on in West Bloomfield. If you want to be treated with respect and honesty, HF is not the place to work.
