Hi! Everyone, i'm new to the blogging stuff and its my first time writing messages

but i'm also applying for the WCCCD nursing program this month for the fall 2014 semester and i'm super excited!!

i did very well on the Hesi exam, finished all my pre-req at wcccd, have health care experience and several certifications. i cant wait to apply, i wish everyone good luck on being accepted.....i'll keep everyone posted on my journey!!

No the deadline is May 9th, so they should be mailed out by the 16th.. Everyone keep us updated when you get your letters.. good luck!!

They moved it again to may 9th!

Wasnt the last date the may 2nd?

If they told you it was the 2nd then they must have moved it again because when I called a few weeks ago they said the 9th. I'm assuming they are giving the students a chance to get their transcripts and grades for the semester that ends this week so they can apply too. Hopefully this is the last time it changes, I just want to know already this is taking forever

Hello everyone. I just completed my first semester in WCCCD Nursing Program. To my understanding they push the date because they don't have enough qualified students. So if your on this board, you should pretty much be ok :). I was in your shoes too so I completely understand.

I took the TEAS right before the cut off so I can't give any advice on the HESI. To those who have taken the HESI already, I recommend to google head to toe nursing assessment pratice if you don't already have the book and know the 12 cranial nerves like the back of your hand. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Do you know what the cut off for points was that they accepted into the program? I think I have 93 so I should be ok, I'm still nervous though. Also how was the first semester is there anything else you recommend besides what you already mentioned? Thanks again and good luck with the rest of the program

Wow thanks so much for the valuable information, I also would like to know do you have any suggestion after completing the first semester for us. What did you find hard or easy?

Can you also tell us how was the pharmacology course. I hear a lot of people fail it the first time. What material was the bases of the course? Did you buy the pharmacology books from the book store?

After completing the first semester, what kind of study habits did you use and what worked for you?

did you take notes or participate in study groups?

How many people are in your class?

Do the school still use the raffle method for the order of class selection for the nursing students?

And please include any experience or suggestion that you think we should know!!

lol sorry we have all these questions, we're just trying to figure out what to expect. I just have one more, what was your schedule like and how many hours? Is it possible to work full or part time while in the program. Thanks again for your help

Oh yea that's a good question!!! I hear its 4 days for the first and second semester and 3 for the last two but that's just speculation. So set the record straight for us!! Thanks for all your help.

I'm not sure of the cut off but if you have 93 your almost guaranteed in. I had a 91 i believe.

If your teacher lectures off power points, thats usuall

The most important part that myself and other classmates found out was READ, READ, and READ especially for Assessment and Theory.

Regarding Foundations Lab, make sure you make use of the clinical lab to practice your skills for check offson campus and help from the lady there (will not allow me to state her name) but she is EXTREMELY helpful and gives lots of tips.

Med Surg 2- READ READ READ. FLuids and Electrolytes and Acide Base is where most students fall short

Pharmacology- This class was hard to me in the beginning because I was studying wrong. Focus on the drug class and side effects. If the lecture states what drug treats what, know that of course.

Don't go buying all those books to help (Made Easy Books) like I did. You will not have time to read them. The only one that was really helpful to me was "Mosby's Pharmacology NoteCards"!!! REALLY Helpful.

Thank you, that's useful information. Appreciate your help

Yea thank you!!!! That helped out a lot. And I'll go and eat the pharmacology flash cards I have an app on my phone but at some point they want you to pay for further information. But thank you!!! If I have any more questions ill let you know!!
