Hi! Everyone, i'm new to the blogging stuff and its my first time writing messages

but i'm also applying for the WCCCD nursing program this month for the fall 2014 semester and i'm super excited!!

i did very well on the Hesi exam, finished all my pre-req at wcccd, have health care experience and several certifications. i cant wait to apply, i wish everyone good luck on being accepted.....i'll keep everyone posted on my journey!!

Hello soontobenurse _84 I am also getting ready to apply to the nursing program I'm studying for the hesi exam and as of now I'm considering retaking 2 classes for better grades. Im at about 80 points will this get me in to get in the program? what was the hesi exam like and what kind of envelope did your good news packet come in? Im truly nervous and praying the spring 2015 dead line is extended also then I will meet my goal for graduation. Sorry for all the questions just need a little inside information... also whas the ISBN for the pharmacology book?

Congratulations on your first semester being complete

I don't mind the questions. I lived on this board from the time I considered applying up until my first day of class (didn't have time after) lol.

There is no longer a raffle and selection is based on sign in upon entry so get there on early for best selection.

Schedule for 1st 7 1/2 weeks: Some students had 2 days and most had three its just what you chose. The ones who had 2 days per week had Foundations Theory and Health Assessment on the same day. DO NOT DO THIS!! I repeat DO NOT DO THIS!!!! Even tho Health Assesment and Pharm is only 2 credits, it is a lot of work and should be worth more! In Health Assessment you will have book tests and check offs and you want to have time to study before and not worry about 2 exams or exam and check off on same day.

Schedule for 2nd 7 1/2 weeks: You will go 3 to 4 days including 2 days for clinicals unless you pick one 12 hour clinical on Saturdays.

Health Assessment and Foundations is your first 2 classes so focus on those before Pharm & Med-Surg.

I purchased my books from half.com instead of the bookstore.

I took the TEAS so I'm not familiar with the HESI. I'm not sure what the point cut off was but I had a 91. Not sure if you guys are aware but they are only taking 60 students now. I would still apply with 80 points and you can always reapply if needed.

The acceptance letters come in a small yellow envelope.

They are good at extending the deadlines. When i applied, they extended the deadline about 3x. Don't have the ISBN handly but its Pharmacology by Kee 7th but wait until July when we register for classes in case they change it with the new year.

How much was the pharmacology book? And CNF CLARK18 you can go on the school bookstore website and type in the semester class and the book will show the IBSN number will be at the be with the book. I also wanted to know the book IBSN, so good question!!!

Can you also tell us what requirement the nursing program required once you were accepted such as, vaccinations, drug test things like that!! And what time period did the give like the end of the or 10days?

soontobenurs_84 what was your schedule like for the first full semester just for a little insight so I wont over exert myself.

thank you also for giving all of us waiting to get in the program a little help with what to expect. and for your essay did you do 2 separate or a combined essay?

I believe I herd they will use some of your coreq to raise your gpa is this true

I did one essay but just made two paragraphs and used a transition sentence to link the two.

I also did one essay. The co-reqs are added into your GPA if you have them completed, so as long as you did well in those classes they should help your GPA out

Hi all future nurses:

I just want to know if the points for GPA go as follow?

4.0-3.7 = 60

3.6-3.3 = 50

3.2-2.9 = 40

60 points is 3.8-4.0, after that I'm not sure

10 Panel drug screen, BLS (CPR Certificate). The sheet the nursing office sent said Hep A & B series but when I turned it in they said only need B but I would clarify with them but definitely Hep B so I would get started on that and the CPR just to have it out the way if you haven't already. They give you a very small window to get everything returned in. Make copies of all your paperwork BECAUSE they are going to lose something!!!! Copy of your blood work including blood titers for previous immunizations. You will need a copy of that also. Also need flu shot. I'm trying to remember as much as I can.
