I applied in August and just heard back about 2 weeks ago. It would seem that the new review process didn't go very well for them. But, the good news is I did get it, so the wait was well worth it!!!!!!

I am really really excited. I'm just super nervous because nothing came with the acceptance letter, no information, nothing! I send an e-mail last week to see if there was some type of orientation, if I needed to pay a deposit & how, etc. and they haven't responded yet. I plan on calling today because I don't want to lose my spot. On Wolverine Access it already says that I have accepted enrollment, so I don't know what to do!

SUSAN, what are the hours like for the program? Are you gone all day, every day? What's a typical week like for you? I have a two-year old at home and have already accepted that I may not see her for the year I'm in the program, but, would love to hear that I'm wrong! Also, I'm really nervous because I have no idea how to do anything medical....no blood pressure, IVs, blood tests, etc. When do they teach you that?

PARRIS - I got your message, but, can't reply... I hope you choose Michigan! Ann Arbor is awesome. I came here for my undergrad in 2003 and haven't managed to leave yet!!!

my letter said that i had to pay my $200 dollars by may 1st. i think once you pay that then they will send you more information. on my wolverine access site if i press the decision button it brings me to a page where i can press accept. once you press that button i assume it will bring you to a page where you can pay the deposit. i also e-mailed them with some questions and have not received any information. do you know what date the pre-requisite classes must be completed and uofm have the transcript in their hands.

as long as taking biochem this summer and finding housing all pans out i will be heading to ann arbor in the fall!!!

Hello again. My letter had a colored sheet with it that talked about the 200$, when I went to Wolverine Access there was no options for me, no links, nothing. I finally just called Office of Undergrad Admin. today and she looked in to my account and it showed that I was a "matriculated student" (which neither of us understood) but her records showed that I did not need to pay the fee...we don't know the reason why. When I asked her about additional information she said that packets are usually mailed or e-mailed out in March and would give us orientation dates.

As far as the prereqs go, you have up until the day the program starts to finish. I believe the official transcript can show up a little later. I plan on sending in an offical transcript (again!) after winter semester is over since I'm taking Patho and Org/Bio Chem and as soon as Pharmacology ends this Spring I will send in another transcript.

If you need any help with housing, let me know, I used to live on campus and also managed a property off campus for a year so I'm pretty good with the housing market!!!!

Hi all!! Can you tell me what your GPA was and your previous backgrounds for those accepted?? I have my bachelors from CMU in Business Admin (3.89 GPA) and my MBA from Wayne State (3.67 GPA) and have started taking the pre-req's for U of M just at community colleges in area. How many do they admit and what is the ave GPA?? Did you all have previous experience in medicine. I worked at Ford in Marketing and Sales for 12 years so all my experiences are related to my business degrees. Thanks for your help!! I am looking at Fall 2010 program.

My GPA was decent, in community college it was close to a 3.8, after 2 years at U of M it was about 3.5, and currently I'm around a 3.8 again in my prereq's. The one thing they kept repeating at the orientation I went to was that they are going to focus on your prereq. grades, not previous grades as much, B/C they want to see that you can handle and succeed in those classes.

This year they are admitting 55/56, I believe. It may change next year.

The most experience I have in a "health field" was working in a group home with mentally/physically disabled adults for about 6 months 8 years ago. My Bachelors is in Psychology and Anthropology and am functionally fluent in spanish. I want to take some medical spanish courses now b/c I don't know anything more than maybe 15 words that could be useful in that area!!!!

I will have a B.S in psychology and applied with a cumulative GPA of 3.4. However, I did well in all of the prerequisite courses required (mostly 3.5s and 4.0s). I do not have any health care experience besides for a little volunteering and job shadowing. I have never held a full time job as I came to college right after high school and will be finishing my 4 year degree in May and starting nursing school in August. So don’t worry about never actually working in the health care field. I would however recommend getting a little bit of time volunteering or job shadowing if possible. I only did it about 4 times, but it was enough to say that you were in a hospital setting working with nurses and really enjoyed it. I was told they put a lot of weight on the 2 short answers and the essay, so I would put a lot of time into those. I would also recommend when you apply getting you application in as soon as possible when it opens up if it is still rolling admissions.
