Anyone getting ready to take the HESI for MCC soon? I am taking it tomorrow and I am super nervous! If anyone has any tips or can share their HESI experiences please do! Also if anyone is applying for the 2009 program like I am, good luck :)!

I am taking it tomorrow too. I have been studying for quite some time for the NET test at Baker (their entrance test) so I will be up late tonight going through the study guide. This will be my second time taking it. Last time I only scored an 87. My advice is to take your time. They give you four hours and it seemed like after an hour many people were leaving. I have severe test anxiety and this was making me nervous. I think I rushed through the last few portions. I wish now I would have went slower and taken the entire four hours. Good Luck!!!

My advice is take your time. Dont let your nerves get the best of you. This will not be the hardest test you take, especially if you get into the program. Dont read to much into the questions they not trying to trick you. Read and double check each question/answer. Start with the subject you are most confident in. After each section it will flash your score. Good luck and dont panic!:nuke:
Hi Inspire,
In your opinion, what is a good score (competitive score to walk away with). I have followed your posts for quite some time and you seem very knowledgeable. I would appreciate advice. Thanks.
Hard to say especially now that there are 40 more spots, but it seems like 92 & 4.0 are pretty safe. Shortly after I took the test I got an email from Evolve with a password and a link. You can check the average scores from that day but I dont know if it was from just the room I took it in or from all the classes that day (i think there was 2 testing rooms). You could ask the person that gives you the test. Anyway, when I took it the averages were pretty low. Again, good luck & let me know how you do. I'll say a prayer for you:saint:.
Thanks for the advice! I am trying not to let my nerves get the best of me!
Well its over! I got a 94.9 which I am pretty content with. Unfortunetly my GPA isn't quite a 4.0, but its close, so I am hopeful!

If your GPA is close to 4.0 you should be good.
You are definitely in! Congratulations. Today was not too good for me. I only scored a 90. I am positive this will not get me in. Oh Well. Hopefully I will get into Baker for the spring.

CorazonDeOro,
I had the same score last year, not a 4.0 and I got in. Plus there will be 33% more students admitted than before so your chances are even better.
Good luck.

jabraham99,
I think you still have a pretty good shot at getting in. Keep that chin up!!! In 2008, ranking 116-120 average was 94.2 HESI and a 3.68 GPA that makes the entrance score.... getting calculator.... okay, that's a 93.1 combined score, If you have a 4.0 gpa you have a 95.0 entrance score, so don't count yourself out just yet!! They also added the 40 new openings. Have faith!
I'm schedule to take my HESI in Jan. I scored an 87% last year.
Now, I just need to finish up my Micro class with an A and I'll have all my pre-reqs finished and a 4.0. I currently have a 4.0 and better not screw it up with Micro. Grrrrrr
Next years Nursing entrance will be a whole new ballgame... It's make or break for me 2009.
Thanks that makes me really glad to hear! I can't wait until the application process is over and I can hopefully start!
