mens shoes in nursing

The other topic that discusses nursing gear suggested mostly clogs...

My problem is I am a 6'4 and I am having a really hard time finding some good supporting shoes. I currently were converse all stars which provide zero support. I don't buy a lot of clothes/shoes so when I went into a shoe store and saw all the different shoes for walking/running/sneakers/etc.

Any recommendations? I've been wearing my all star converse for over 2-3 years and my back, feet, and body are a mess at the end of the day.

thanks gents

I wear the nike lunar glide. I move a lot and they are light, and work for my arch type.

Take care of your feet.

I use K-Swiss Tubes.... and not because they made the most awesome commercial for it... but it does help to be the MFCEO of the nursing floor...

Am 6'3" and I do don vans, no support whatsoever. The reason I am hesitant about nike/ all those other brands is that- if am 6'3" already ain't those other shoes going to make me ridiculously tall?

For surgeries that I was assisting I was a big fan of some new balance minimalist running shoes. It all depends on your arch type though. Have you tried the Dr. Scholl's kiosks that recommend inserts? They would let you know what kind of support would be best for you based on their research. Might not be a bad place to start.

I'd totally forgotten about this commercial until just now....got a good belly laugh from that one.

OP, I love my Chucks too. I'm looking into orthotics to save my back and feet.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Going to do some shopping today and see what I can't find. I may check out one of those kiosks for the inserts. Definitely related to PauperRN being tall myself... It's the reason I have always avoided clogs and big shoes that will make me even taller. Thanks so much for the advice will let you all know what I end up with!

I used to wear Nike Shocks, they were great for long days running up and down the hall passing meds. Then I found these:

Amazon.com: DAWGS Men's Working Destination PMW Clog: Clogs And Mules Shoes: Shoes

They are awesome. More foot room than the shocks, better heel support, and they are made of rubber like material that washes off easily. Add some Dr. Schol's inserts, and they feel great, even after a 12 hour shift.

I always put a supportive insert in my work (and workout) shoes - be they clogs or nikes!

Nike shox will make u taller. But they are good shoes.

Thanks all for the help. Ended up with a pair of Adidas 'energy boost'. Tried them on in the store and could feel the layers of support. Should be better than my flat/no support converse. All the advice is much appreciated.

I use danskos and rotate with skechers shape up for the cushioning not the toning

I tried the nike air max wright, nike air max 95 (style), nike air max 2011, and nike air max fly wire.

The flywire were the best shoes I have ever bought. It was lightweight. Felt like walking on air literally. It is an amazing shoe.
