For those of you who wear your wedding band, do you wear it to work? I don't want to have to be constantly taking it off to clean it.

I'm thinking I will probably just wear it outside of work. What do you do?
I spent to many years as a flight nurse. Uncle Sam tought me never to wear it around aircraft.

Now that I'm not flying, I still don't wear it to work. Just a choice, not a safety or hygene thing, just habit.

I wear mine and haven't had any problems cleaning my hands or the ring with it on. I second those who say they'd be afraid to lose it otherwise. Plus I never take the thing off.

I know several nurses who wear their rings on a gold chain around the neck while at work... keeps 'em very safe, but out of the way so not to scratch a patients, rip a glove etc.

I've treated several skin tears to my geris cause by rings

I wear no jewelry to work. I spend good money for it to be lost, stolen or ruined by contaminants. A marriage is of trust, with or without the ring on your finger. you can cheat with a ring plastered to your forehead. only the person themselves can answer the true intentions of why they don't want to wear their ring.

I never wear it around an aircraft, I had it get stuck beneath the sled mount one time and just about broke my finger! but in the ICU, yes..always.
I'm completely in charge of my marriage and my wife gave me her permission to say that!

My wife of 25 years and I are both nurses at the same trauma center. Neither of us wear our bands at work. All of my co-workers know that I'm married to the hottest nurse in the hospital.

I hate wearing jewelry, especially rings.

I wore my wedding ring for awhile but had to keep removing it for various things at work. At home, it got dinged up and was always getting dirty. I finally stopped wearing it altogether several years ago and am much happier about it.

In truth, it does bother my wife a little bit but she has become used to the idea. It's never been an issue in the past because I always worked in predominantly male environments. Perhaps being in a nursing environment will have me rethink things. Perhaps I'll wear it on a necklace. I don't know where it is, though.

You guys totally crack me up!

DH (who works on corporate America - no infection control, or danger issues) has stopped wearing his ring for several years. I'm not excited about it, but have dealt with it. He, however, claims he was hit on much more when he wore it. :icon_roll (Travels a lot for job.)

I wear a band w/ set in stones, to avoid snagging tender skin and/or gloves. But, w/ good handwashing and a responsible use of gloves I've never worried about carrying little bugs. I have also seen people wearing their ring(s) on a saftey pin attached to scrubs. But, that seemed to me like asking to accidentally lose it...

I wear my ring all the time. Never take it off. It's a band and fits easily underneath gloves. I'd feel downright naked without it at this point.

I wear mine. I wash my hands. Don't see a problem with it.

The alcohol cleansers we use nowadays probably keep the germs to a minimum. Wear your wedding ring...unless of course...
