    Thanks for the reply.
You said you work 12-hour shifts, which part of the day is most stressful for you?
Another thing, both my parents are nurses... how do you keep from your work affecting your home life?
If my parents come home from a stressful day, its just best to stay out of their way or they will jump down my throat for the littlest of things... Any tips on how a child of a nurse could make it easier for their parents?

    Thanks for the response,

I'm 17, but I'm mature enough to handle any answers as long as they are honest.

To better ask my question, I want to know of some of the sources in which the stress comes from. As well as the affects from the stress like, how did it affect your performance on the job? Stress is different for everyone, so if you were affected physicaly or mentally, all responses are welcome.

Anything will help, personal stories, co-worker's stories, or just examples.

    Thanks!

i work in a joint replacement center and all of our tkr/thr patients are turned within 2 hours of comming to the unit. both ways...even to the op side. they are oob the next morning. i can't see why this wasn't done for this patient. there are no containdications to turning and there sure are a lot of complications to not turning!

    Hey everyone!
I am gonna try to pick y'all brains and try to understand about this type of headache.
Background....son in law seen in ER last night with his worst one ever. Slurred speech, left sided weakness....severe, incapacitaing pain. CT normal.
Have you all ever seen this before? I have been an RN for over 20 years and not much freaks me out anymore but this was very scary.
Not asking for medical advice.....just similar stories and what is your understanding of this. Thanks in advance!

Just wondering if anyone has found that if they helped cna's on the floor with answering lights, assisting them with putting residents to bed with lifts if eventually they expect the nurse to help them. This helping out is done when the nurse is having some down time..

Patient care is everyones concern! When I was an NA I helped all I could....As an RN I continue to do same. That includes bedpans.....emesis.....spilled drinks.....room and unit cleanliness.....denture and mouth care.....any and ALL of it! Team work works best when all the team is playin!

Thats a very good idea, and one that i try to preform when ever i can. As the oldest brother in the house i try to take care of my younger brothers to ease the stress on my mother but i could probly do more. Thank you for the input.
