Please attend orientation. It is assumed that it is mandatory and you will get lots of information given to you. The Student Nursing Association (SNA) about 30-35 students will be on hand to help with tours and answer any questions you have.
Please only bring yourself. You are being provided food and no one is planning for you to bring "companions"....this is an opportunity for you all to meet your class and become acclimated to school and the faculty. It will be a blur but we will try our best to make it as informative as possible.
I also recommend signing up for a mentor if you have not already. You will have the opportunity to sign up for one on Thurs as well as committees to become involved in the SNA.
Please bring cash or check...we will be selling some fun things that I am sure you will want to buy. There will also be some students selling their books for much cheaper than the bookstore if you are interested.
Welcome and we look forward to meeting all of you on Thursday!!
Orientation is not for husbands, wives, or parents....just you students.
They are no longer accepting summer applicants...only fall and spring. I would definitely talk to the advisors. F will help you figure out where you stand. I know when I got in, she told me to get at least an 85 on the TEAS V. There are certain things you can change quickly to make you more competitive and that is one of them. If you don't get a letter to interview for fall, don't be discouraged, make an appointment and find out what you can do. I belies the deadline for fall is coming up so I would get everything in.
Also, remember you need to pass your competencies to continue in holistic. Same goes for Adult health secod semester and for senior checkoffs. You will have to drop the class and pick it up when the next one is available so just practice practice practice..you do get 3 times but people do fail...even the most competent....just utilize the lab hours and you will all do great!!!
Hello my little Nurselets!!!
I know you are all excited for your acceptance letters and it probably feels like this has been a long time coming. Believe me, we were all there.
I would say wait doing anything until you receive your letters from the nursing office about all the requirements you need. You should have received them, if not, they are coming soon.
On behalf of SNA, I want to welcome you all to the program and we look forward to seeing you all! The SNA board and members will be on hand at orientation to help answer questions and probably give tours. You will have the opportunity to try on uniforms at that time as well. We will set up a facebook page for you. This will probably be done by Orientation.
Definitely start looking at the Calculating with Confidence book. You will get a list of the specific chapters to review during Orientation.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to msg me. I am currently your new President of SNA and I hold a state office on the Board for GANS (Georgia Association of Nursing Students) so I will definitely try to point you in the right direction. I do hope you all consider getting involved. If you are interested in leadership positions.. the board will be looking to elect a class representative for your class. If this is something of interest, we will be announcing it at orientation. Also, bring your money to buy t-shirts, fleeces and badge reels!
We look forward to having you join our family!!!
I'm beginning to think we didn't get it since we haven't heard anything. Did either of you email or call and get a response of any kind?
I know! My tuition is due in a couple of weeks and inbred to buy books! I emailed yesterday and have heard nothing! Can't believe how long this is taking!
When do you all graduate? How did you find out about this scholarship? I had a friend who actually received it a couple years ago and it seemed like an awesome program...do you know what area you would like to work in? I am thinking L&D for me but keeping my options open...I hope we hear something soon either way...
I went ahead and sent Sharon an email to see if we would hear this week or next and if any decision had been made...I'll let ya'll know if she writes back!
Only 9 of us applied??? Wow! I left Sharon a msg on Monday but haven't heard anything....the waiting is killing me!
Still nothing....have you heard if they called your references yet?
I hear ya!!! I got the email also about Sharon being out of the office. I would have thought by now...I am on pins and needles! When did you interview and how did you feel about it? Sharon said 9-10 were interviewing and they were taking 4, maybe 5!! Good luck!!! So I guess no news is good news fingers crossed!!! how doyou like Emory? I couldn't afford that.. Lol!!! I'm at KSU and just finished my 1st semester...summer is a beast in itself and to start in the summer is even crazier but I made it!
I was wondering if anyone has applied or interviewed for the Northside Scholars Leadership Program through Northside Hospital. If so, have you heard back? I interviewed and got an email last week that they should have the decision this week but haven't heard.
Or if anyone has received this in the past, how long does it usually take and do they let you know either way.
I am not allowed to send out the Davis patho notes since I'm on SNA but you can go on fb to one of the previous classes and ask someone to send them...believe me, someone can send them...
