   responding to you both.....called ER for protocol and they say they treat it like any other needle stick, which btw does include incident report......unfortunately saw no infection control specialist today while working, but hopefully will tomorrow, ...

   well i guess i am not in the 'normal' category....i took boards back in feb. of 87, when you had two days of intense tests, 250 or so questions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon on both days...i failed....so i had to wait until june of 87 ...

   it all depends particularly on the doctor....ours want the urine to be clear....so depending on the patient, i have gone through 9 bags once in an eight hour shift to properly get the pt to be clear, was alot of emptying and hanging and time consumi...

9. RN's removing surgical drains

   we remove them all the time, the only tube that the nurse does not remove is a chest tube, otherwise, the rest are our responsiblily

10. nurse-patient ratio

    an RN on days usually has 6 pts with IV covers, 7-9 on evenings and same for midnights, sucks doesnt it? sometimes i will only get 4-5 but that doesnt happen much....as well as sometime i get 7 pts with 5-6 covers
