Need Shift Help

ok all here is my problem....at this time i work 4-12 hour shifts and every other weekend 10 hours, 5-530 and 5-330 respectively.....now my head nurse tells me that those are no longer possible due to total hours or some bs like that and to come up with another option, or plan for me......first off, why me went though my mind but that is beside the point...secondly, she suggested working 530 to 2pm but who would really want to take more patients at that time despite only for another 1-1/2 hours, still doesnt seem too fair to me....and thirdly i am not real sure what all my options are as she told me to come up with some other plan.....i did 10 years of straight afternoon shift and absolutely hate it now and really never want to go back to that shift......this shift is perfect for me and my family and has been like this for 2-1/2 years....so please give me some options that i can take back to her....as much feedback would be great...thank you all, nancy

Hey--am I getting this right? They feel you work too many hours?

Keep your 4-12's where you are and take an extra shift or 2 as a PRN some place else....

More money, supv is happy, and you can stick generally with the schedule you have.

I have to agree with chris! I see you are in Ohio. I live in the Akron/Canton area and PRN positions pay 29.00-35.00 an hour with very little commitment and a lot of flexibility. I'm working on my BSN and I work 3 12-hr shifts at this pay rate, but no benefits. I tell management what days I will work. This really works for my family.

Good luck!!:)
