  1. Benefit of an employment contract?

I live in an at-will employment state (Tennessee). I signed a contract with an employer but was suddenly terminated 8 months later. It knew early on that it was a bad fit as the management was clearly "fire happy" as evidenced by lots of turnover. My...
  2. Any regrets becoming a NP?

No regrets. It has been a step away from all the physical labor expected of an RN. There are many settings which offer a good life/work balance. Don't be afraid to move around and try different areas/settings to find a good fit.
  3. Contract per patient rate

I'm in the primary care arena near Canton, Georgia. How much should I ask for per patient? I don't want to be too high or too low but don't want to get ripped off. Thanks for your input.
  4. Contract per patient rate

I am being offered 1099 contract work and will be paid a per patient rate. What is the going rate? I am in Georgia just outside of Atlanta.
  5. 1099 employment question

I was offered a 1099 position in another state through a locums company. The company would be paying for my lodging, rental car, uniforms and transportation expenses. The rate was $62.00 per hour. I didn't accept as it seemed to leave me with a huge ...
  6. Liability insurance

I work as an FNP in a small walk-in clinic. One of the managers has asked for a copy of my liability insurance. Should I give it?
  7. Frustrated

I have recently started to get interviews. I have one position that I will be providing temp coverage. I have 2 more interviews this week so hopefully one will pan out. I upgraded my resume to be specific about what tasks I performed and put it more ...
  8. Frustrated

JellyDonut, None of the interviews have offered jobs. They all want 3-5 years of experience. I may need to just focus on what I can get instead of centering on urgent care. Thanks for your input.
  9. Frustrated

I have applied to several of the retail clinics and receive no feedback. Most of the practices in my area want 3-5 years of experience. Thanks for your reply.
  10. Frustrated

I need advice as I am not sure what to do. I passed the ANCC FNP board in December, 2015 and was granted my license in February, 2016 for Tennessee and Georgia. I have over 30 years of healthcare experience including EMS as a paramedic, ER as an RN, ...
  11. FNP board preparation

I used the Fitzgerald Review and passed ANCC first try. I looked at the blueprint for ANCC and AANP and found that what my program covered best matched the ANCC blueprint. Best of luck to you.
  12. What area of the country are you in? In Southeast Tennessee there are no jobs for new NP's.
  13. I agree totally. The schools have found a cash cow and are pumping out students. The demand for new grad NP's is just not there and the market is flooded.
  14. NP pay per hour vs specialty?

In my area (Southeast Tennessee) the going rate is $45.00 per hour. The Per Diem rate is a bit more.
  15. Interview questions

I am starting to interview for my first NP job. What are some good questions to have answered? I know that number of providers and number of patients seen per day are good to know. Any others? Thanks.
