UMB FALL 2011

U.S.A. Maryland

I will be applying for the Fall 2011 program at UMB really really soon. I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same...? I'm really nervous about applying because Anatomy really kicked my butt last semester and I ended up getting a C (even though I ended up doing really well on my other science courses). Now, I'm losing hope. Anyone feeling the same?

When I went to an open house down in Baltimore, an admissions rep said I needed to emphasize that I did not yet have my license but I was planning to obtain it and include when I will take the NCLEX. Might be something they're still processing, it just was changed for me within the past couple days.

Who did you contact about this information? Did you just tell the admissions office or did you call someone in particular? I have told admissions reps. this before, but I want to make sure I've told the right person. Thank you for your help. I hope we both get accepted.

Thank you so much. I did not realize I needed to call and clarify again. Mine has changed to complete, ready for review now. I hope that doesn't hurt my chances of acceptance. If I get in I owe you big time. Thank you again.

I told the admissions rep at the open house but I also included it specifically in my essay. Honestly, it might be a good idea to send a short note so that it is documented in writing and it gets added to your file. I wouldn't worry too much since it does say Complete, Ready for Review. Glad I could help :)

OMG, it's really hard to wait more than this.....

I agree; I have stopped checking my app. status online. At this point I am going to wait until I either get a call, or someone else on here posts that their status changed. Everytime I would check it I would get hopeful that something changed so from now on I will just wait it out.

I am getting impatient as well. I guess we should hear something in the next couple of weeks hopefully. This has been a long semester. I'm not only counting down the days to hear about this, but also the days until I finish my RN in May. Can't waittt

I wonder if Grey Lady knows if the committee has made at least some decisions? Do u guys think they are still working on the applications?

I would think that by now they would have a pretty good idea who they are going to accept, but I obviously have no idea. I hope we hear soon but I am getting pretty nervous about it.

Yep...I haven't checked my app status in over a week (and I used to check it everyday!). I just get disappointed everytime I check and nothing has changed. I really hope we don't have to wait another 3-4 weeks like a previous poster said she was told upon calling the office. This wait is absolutely KILLING me!! Is anyone else planning on applying for financial aid? Are you supposed to wait until you actually get accepted or is that something we should do now?

I think you are absolutely right. I have monitored other threads like this and the traffic usually does heat up after the deadline. It hits fever pitch when acceptances start going out. It is a long process but an extremely fair one. Best of luck to you all.

Oh, I have a suggestion. Do what you can to line up your financial aid now - there does not seem to be quite as much available as there used to be. We have had several spring applicants who did not do that until after they had been accepted and could not then find enough tuition money. They had to decline their offers. Maybe this will not be an issue for you since the amount of time between acceptance and the first day of school is so much longer for fall applicants.

Mombak2skool, I think you missed this post by Grey Lady. The Fin Aid office wanted FASFA's in by the 28th of Feb. for priority funding, but you should still try to get your app in ASAP. http://www.umaryland.edu/fin is their website (all I did was use their code when I filled out FASFA).

On a lighter note it's Opening Day for the Nationals (for those of you outside of the region they are DC's baseball team). Go Nats!

So.....

I broke down and called the school. Lol. This is the first time I have done it; I guess I am just grasping at straws and am dying for any piece of information.

Anyway, I just asked if they knew when letters would be going out regarding admissions, and they said sometime in April; probably around the second or 3rd week.

So we still have a little bit of a wait, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later!
