UMass Amherst Accelerated BSN - 2014

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hey everyone,

I submitted my application on February 1st for the UMass Amherst Accelerated BSN program that starts in August. I got an email a few days ago about setting up an interview either face-to-face or via the computer. I had to choose the computer option since I live in North Carolina. Anyways, my interview just ended and I wanted to see what others thought of their interview and such.

Also, I wanted to see if anyone who is currently attending there, had to have an interview before?

Thanks and good luck to all! :)

@brunettebelle

I called the admissions office a few days ago and was notified that they are waiting to hear back from 3 individuals. If those 3 individuals choose not to go to UMass, they will then (possibly) move onto the wait-list. The person I spoke with stated that the admissions department can choose to not move onto the wait-list and can just take those in who have already been accepted. Additionally, she stated that there is no specific order to the wait-listed candidates, they will simply choose "randomly" based on our applications. By random, I mean that there are no specific numbers that each of us on the wait-list have (number 1, 2, 3, etc.).

Additionally, she stated that those 3 people have until April 15th to enroll or deny and then a decision will be made afterwards. We would be notified by email or postal mail if a decision has been made.

Based off of my conversation, it sounded as if they did not have plans to move onto the wait-list candidates, however, that is just my opinion.

I am not waiting to hear back from any schools other than UMass, and I have decided to accept enrollment into MCPHS Second Bachelor's Degree Nursing in Worcester, MA!

Hi everyone,

I was wait-listed as well and I received an e-mail today letting me know I was accepted into the program! An attachment with an acceptance letter was included and I have until 4/25 to send in a $100 deposit. Just wanted to let those who are still waiting know they are looking at the wait-list candidates! Good luck to everyone and congrats to those already accepted!

@Mariec86 congrats! Are you (or anyone else accepted) from around the area? I will be moving up from D.C. and would like some suggestions on where to live and whatnot.

@Lgm2320 Yes, I live about a 1/2 hour from campus! Anywhere around campus will be a lot more expensive, but there's a few apartment complexes in the area.. Cliff side in Sunderland, rolling green in Amherst, etc. You're best bet would be to rent a house or apt with a few people and split the rent. You should go to the Facebook page. There's a few students in the same boat!

@Mariec86 thank you! I haven't been able to find the facebook page. They keep deleting the link if you post it on this site. Can you tell me the title of the page? I've tried searching under just about everything!

@lgm2320 The title of the FB page is Umass Amherst ABSN 2014-2015 :)

@Mariec86 I must be the worst! Whenever I search facebook says it can't find any results! Are you able to send me an invite to the group? My facebook name is Lucy Meyers (from washington, dc). Thank you again!

@vbnes1126- thank you for the information, that helps a lot! Best of luck to you!

@mariec86- woohoo!! Maybe I will receive an email soon ;) If not there is always next year. Happy you got a spot!! :)

I am having a hard time finding this facebook page too. How do I find the page?

@MsOHKASwillbeanRN I am also having a hard time. If you figure it out please let me know!

Hello all! I don't know if anyone is still on this page, but I am seeming to have a hard time finding current Umass Amherst ABSN students to talk to. I was hoping that some in the program could shed some insight on how it is going?! How are the classes? The coursework? Professors? Clinical's? I'm trying to gather as much information as I can about the program.
